I think they used a channel to the military commanders so that we didn't kill Russian troop.

We'd have a pretty big mess on our hands if we killed a Russian troop.

I'm not sure if it was a good or bad strategy by Trump, only the future actions will tell; but I think making sure we didn't hit Russian troops was a good idea.

At war with? I don't believe the administration had any choice but to warn the Russians, and I'm fairly certain they understood the Russians would then warn the Syrians. This is an incredibly complex situation.

Not calling worked great for Japan, but then they wanted a war with us.
