Texas state rep proposes fines for masturbation
A Texas state representative has introduced legislation that would fine men for masturbating and require them to undergo counseling before obtaining a prescription for Viagra, in an effort to highlight anti-abortion laws that place restrictions on women.

The legislation introduced by state Rep. Jessica Farrar (D) would impose a $100 civil penalty for "masturbatory emissions" that take place outside of a woman's vagina or a hospital. Each incident would be "considered an act against an unborn child, and failing to preserve the sanctity of life," the bill reads.

If men had babies, there would be abortion clinics on every other corner.

If it does, please explain it to me.

How can it be an act against an unborn child when even the most pro-lifer in Alabama doesn't believe a life begins until conception.

Other than being incredibly homophobic, I can't make any sense of this?

Can anyone?

In a post on Facebook, Farrar said the measure is meant to highlight laws already on the books that impact women's health.

"Although HB 4260 is satirical, there is nothing funny about current health care restrictions for women and the very real legislation that is proposed every legislative session," Farrar wrote on Facebook. "Women are not laughing at state-imposed regulations and obstacles that interfere with their ability to legally access safe healthcare, and subject them to fake science and medically unnecessary procedures."

which no one does, not pro choice people or pro life people.

The equivalent would be to force women to stop menstruating because losing eggs would be a crime against a child.

Hell, it's so anti-freedom that I often tell them (anti-choicers) to their faces that they don't have values, because if they have values, then ISIS has values. I love working them up. I tell them that if they really loved America, they'd kill themselves.
And I never feel bad doing that - because defending women's freedom from gestational slavery is a righteous cause.

that's the point, for one. Sperm and eggs are most certainly alive, too. The raw genetic ingredients are present in both sets of gametes. Nothing magical or "religious" happens when they combine.

People asking the question "when does life begin"- we have a good idea as to the answer to that question; it probably began about 4 billion years ago, maybe in a hydrothermal vent.

The core fallacy of the anti-choice movement is, they want a single cell to be considered by law to be the same thing as a baby.

There is more difference between a fertilized egg the second after conception and a baby, than there is between that egg and an unfertilized egg or a sperm.

You know, for the man's own good, just to ensure that there were no underlying health issues that were causing the ED.

Another requirement would be that the transpenal ultrasounds would only be performed at outpatient clinics. If the patient was required to walk through throngs of protesters surrounding the clinic entrances, it's purely for his own good as it will help him seriously consider whether or not the decision he is making is morally right. After all, would Jeebus approve of ED meds? I think not.

"Men out to control women" makes for a good narrative, but the truth is more complex.

Like in this poll, age seems as much a factor as gender.

But how is this homophobic? I am pretty sure the same percentage of straight men masturbate as gay men. Like, all of us.

It is pointing out how ridiculous all of the new anti-abortion laws are. Especially those demanding that women get permission ships from a man.

And there are lots of people who believe that masturbation is a sin since it prevents sperm from potentially staring a new life by wasting it...a certain song in a Monte Python film comes to mind.

a 24 hour waiting period and be required to make a return trip to the clinic prior to masturbation?

Is there a "religious" organization that they would need to see to try to "counsel them out" of masturbating?

I think a camera up their urethra to take an ultrasound picture of their sperm should be required so they will know just what it is they are throwing away.

I've said it before; "If men were the ones who got pregnant, abortion would not only be legal and available at 7/11, but it would also be tax deductible!
