Connect your account to Amazon Smile, it is Amazon, but when you do this a percentage of each purchase or many purchases goes to the charity of your choice, in my case I was able to find and dedicate my proceedings to my local Planned Parenthood.

(31,319 posts)You can see a lot of their rescues here: https://www.youtube.com/user/eldad75
My first rescue dog came from an animal shelter in Los Angeles in the early '80's. We're now on our third rescue dog and we live across the country in NC.

Here's another painless way to help: Sign up for Goodsearch and Goodshop. Every search with Goodsearch raises a little bit (and it adds up fast!), as well as purchases through the Goodshop site.

(14,449 posts)I even buy groceries now due to incredibly good prices and charitable contributions. I buy eggs, milk, and bread at publix. I order meats from Omaha steaks in bulk. Everything else is Amazon. They have a wonderful grocery section on the website.

I didn't know about Amazon Smile, but now that I do I'll tell my friends and family about it. I like that people have a choice in where their donations go.
thanks for the info.

(7,496 posts)if you do a lot of Amazon shopping, every bit counts!
Usually if you go to amazon.com by reflex, there will be a link. Otherwise, I think you can just go to smile.amazon.com

And their business model is a tax dodge . .
And Bezos owns the Neo-liberal WaPO . .
Other than that, there is not much moral ambiguity at all in shopping with Amazon. (sarcasm alert)

(27,762 posts)I've been pleasantly surprised that Bezos has taken a hands-off editorial approach with the WaPo. I was worried when he bought it, but so far, so good.
I don't shop them because of the tax thing, their penchant for putting local stores out of business, the huge amount of waste generated by Amazon prime boxes, and the way they use contract workers as 'pickers' and mistreat them. Among other things.

(4,191 posts)I volunteer there and they are close to desperate for funds. A lot of homeless and poor people spend their days there for heat in winter and coolness in summer. It's a huge contribution to the community.

(624 posts)I don't know how she does it. Her husband died a few years ago. She lives alone, and she has had several very serious medical episodes. She handles it all head-on, and continues to care for her horses on her mini-farm. In fact, she just had a back surgery a few days ago, but I think that was kind of unrelated to the ms.
