He was buddies w/ McCain& Leibermann ; I knew/know of him as a slightly repulsive republican.

Graham isn't any worse than a typical southern Democrat - most of whom have been purged after 2008 and replaced by virtually indistinguishable southern Republicans.
It takes a constituency to hold office, and in the south that is fiscal and social conservativism. Regardless of party.
