Wish I could be out there, but unfortunately came down with a bad cold.
What I can do is applaud the many people who went today - to rally, to march, to stand on sidewalks and overpasses to cheer and support.
I want to give an especially thankful shout out to our many DU sisters and brothers who attended today.
You rock!
I'll update this post with attendance numbers as I see them. Feel free to reply and I'll be glad to add in the OP.

Usually it's the opposite as police or municipalities follow up with numbers lower than organizer's counts.
The enthusiasm and urgency of having these today is truly undeniable.
I'll update Atlanta.

http://portlandtribune.com/pt/9-news/341302-221594-womens-march-fills-waterfront-park
Organizers of Saturday's Portland Women's March estimated that nearly 100,000 people showed up at Tom McCall Waterfront Park Saturday in a steady rain for the national movement that is expected to attract millions across the country.
~~~
The rally included an hour of speeches and then a nearly 2-mile march through downtown. Portland police said so many people attended the event that the front of the march wound through the 44-block route and returned to Waterfront Park before the end of the march had moved. TriMet's downtown service was disrupted several times because of the size of the crowd.
http://touch.latimes.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-92388804/
The exact size of the protest was difficult to measure. Womens march organizers put the number at 750,000.
The Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement that well past 100,000 people attended but did not provide a more precise number. One law enforcement source said officials found it difficult to measure the size because the demonstrators ended up marching down multiple streets.
Officials said it appeared to be the largest since a massive 2006 immigration march downtown. The LAPD estimated that march drew 500,000, but organizers insisted the number was higher.
Veteran activist Jorge Rodriguez, 64, who helped organize the 2006 demonstration, said he thought Saturdays march appeared to be as large as the immigration event if not bigger.
http://www.wfaa.com/news/local/fort-worth-womens-march/388597938
Leah Suasnovar remembers searching online for a women's march in Fort Worth and not seeing one. It was then she decided, along with a few other women, to start a march themselves. Suasnovar admits she had no experience doing it and had to learn on-the-fly.
~~~
"I'm overwhelmed because I thought it would be me and 20 of my friends walking down the street. I think it feels validating," said Leah.
A more than one-mile march will begin at the Tarrant County Courthouse and move up and down Main and Houston Streets. Organizers say it is for every cross-section of culture. Permits for the event were granted in the nick of time on Thursday.
"It's time for everyone to come together and say we're going to listen to each other and we are here together and we are all mothers and we care of about our children's education," said Ashley Paz, another organizer.

I had SB group signs to follow, and my friend and I made sure to stay in sight of them as we worked our way along the route, buffeted on all sides like molecules in Brownian Motion. Because of this I ran into at least half a dozen friends of mine, all old campaigners from the BushCheney years. We have work to do, and we are ready.
There were a lot of great signs, but my favorite was: "I Can't Believe I am Still Protesting This Shit."

(12 posts)The San Diego Union-Tribune (main establishment newspaper) quotes a "police supervisor" putting the crowd between 30,000 and 40,000.
Another article in the same paper says "perhaps" three thousand in the Escondido march. (Escondido is basically a suburb at a distance from San Diego.)
Both articles talk about how the marches were larger than expected. And there was intermittent rain, and San Diegans are terrible about what the rest of you folks consider normal weather...
There was supposed to be a protest also at Rep. Darrell Issa's office (in North County), but I don't know if that actually happened.

(6,344 posts)Organizers were expecting 20,000 - 30,000.
100,000 was a record event turnout for the state, aside from the yearly State Fair.

(12,232 posts)It's stunning and hopeful how far above expectations the actual numbers have been.

(3,577 posts)This calculation uses the lower number wherever a range is given, and many other locations could be added, so the exact number at the marches--which we can never know--is probably much higher.

I think it's important that we acknowledge the all.

(24,653 posts)Over 500 yesterday on the Eau Gallie Causeway. Would have been more, but quite a few of us went over to Orlando or to DC. That's not a bad number for a red district.

(12,232 posts)That's also the case for many other cities. Glad these voices are being heard. Thank you for standing up!

(12,232 posts)When I started this I had no idea it would grow as it has.
I like how it has done that from the contributions of so many here at DU.
I bookmarked the link so I can access it in future. It's a good one!
