It's January 7th. We've have six mass shootings this year alone! Six. Gun Humpers are rejoicing

Yes, everyone. More guns has made us fucking safer! I repeat that again. People who like to jack off on their guns and think the 2nd amendment (well, the second part of that poorly written amendment) is more important than our rights to live free of trying to figure out which asshole with a murder enabler will take it out and litter the place with hot lead because some jacked off his dog to his favorite porno movie.

And before I get the usual NRA talking points I get one here, I am a hunter. I owned guns. I'm not one of these asswipes who near fired one in my life. Shit, I earned my rifling merit badge in the boy scouts. I owned a shotgun, a winchester and a colt .45 revolver.

These gun humping trolls think they are under attack. Nope, you people won. Guns are easier to legally buy now than alcohol. You have brainwashed an entire nation into thinkin background checks and gun control are some Communist plot to strip you of your liberty. It isn't, but who needs facts when you have groupthink and bullshit? Then will come the other asshole line of "well, you can't stop crazy." I've lived in foreign countries the last ten years. Why do we have more mass shootings? GUNS, MOTHERFUCKER!!! After that will we get the idiot claptrap "well, this happening proved gun control fails." Following that logic, we should not have laws because murderers prove laws stopping murder don't work. Thieves prove laws stopping robbery don't work. JAywalkers prove laws demanding crosswalks don't work.

I only hope a relative of yours isn't killed in one of these acts. Well, in a way, maybe I do. As you cry and grieve and ask why, I will tell you not to step on my rights to own a gun. Your loved one is less important than my right to own something that and turn a building into swiss cheese. Of course, good manners tells me to console you, but if you are a gun humper, I'll just walk away saying that your fighting of modest gun caused it to happen. You should be happy. Your dead loved one is proof you were right and I was wrong!

I am so fucking sick of this argument. We are a scared, stupid, macho country with loads of guns. This is a bad combination. Since you can't stop people from making babies (China tried and it really didn't work out well) since anyone with a pussy and a dick can make a screaming kid, we control the access to murder enablers. Cue the knife and car argument.

Knives have multi-functions. So do cars. Guns have one: KILL! I don't see people using a AR-15 for a hammer or driving their Glocks to the gas station to fill up the magazine.

Six mass shootings in seven days. This country truly is a drug addict. Only until we hit rock bottom will we change. But we still haven't gotten there. And with all these fucking trumpers, gun humpers, racist, sexists, and assholes, we probably never will.

https://www.thelocal.de/20160616/five-things-to-know-about-guns-in-germany-us-gun-control-laws

(snip)

To get a gun, Germans must first obtain a firearms ownership license (Waffenbesitzkarte) - and you may need a different one for each weapon you buy - or a license to carry (Waffenschein).

Applicants for a license must be at least 18 years old and undergo what’s called a reliability check, which includes checking for criminal records, whether the person is an alcohol or drug addict, whether they have mental illness or any other attributes that might make them questionable to authorities.

The also have to pass a “specialized knowledge test” on guns and people younger than 25 applying for their first license must go through a psychiatric evaluation.

One must also prove a specific and approved need for the weapon, which is mainly limited to use by hunters, competitive marksmen, collectors and security workers - not for self-defence.

Once you have a license, you’re also limited in the number of and kinds of guns you may own, depending on what kind of license you have: Fully automatic weapons are banned for all, while semiautomatic firearms are banned for anything other than hunting or competitive shooting...

(snip)

But even given Germany’s strict gun policies, the country was still home to the fourth-highest number of legal guns per capita in 2013, falling behind just the United States, Switzerland and Finland...

(snip)

But even given the relatively high amount of guns in the country, Germany has one of the lowest rates of gun-related deaths each year, according to international GunPolicy.org research by the University of Sydney.

Over the past 20 years, “crimes against life” - which include murder as well as negligent manslaughter - that involve guns have dropped from 783 in 1995 to 130 in 2015, according to the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA).

Of those crimes last year, just 57 were intentional murders.

This of course pales in comparison to the rates in the US, where firearm homicides surpass 11,000 people killed each year or roughly 3.5 deaths per 100,000 people, according to GunPolicy.org
.

until a mass shooter, or shooters, kills a bunch of government representatives. It could even be an unhinged security guard.

Ohio representatives made this place an "open carry" state, even allowing people to carry guns into bars.

Yet no guns are allowed in government buildings, of course. Unless they're negatively affected, NRA money will rule them.

But, let groups of non-whites run around open carrying and you WILL see legislation that narrows down these "rights" and we are absolutely at a point now where it will be blatant.

Look at Jackson, Reagan, Bush and Trump for excellent examples of the common man making informed decisions. Washington, Adams, Hamilton, Marshall, and Franklin would roll in their graves.

BUT, even then, there some intellectual veneer to it all, they were not this far gone.

During the next two decades we have seen an increasing digression from the "conservative movement" where it has reached this point, they just out and out say, and believe this in their very hearts.

Tired of the same false equivalency you mention i.e.

Cars kill- they are not specifically built for that like a gun and there are far more regulations to owning a car and driving.

Knives kill- but very rarely is there mass casualties as is the norm for guns.

If we outlaw guns only outlaws will have them. As you said by that logic we should get rid of all laws.

Guns don't kill, people kill. Once again by that logic the drug filled syringe on the table does not kill people either.

2nd Amendment- well 50% of it is all that matters apparently.

There are too many guns out there, new laws will not make a difference.- Leaded gas was everywhere more so than guns with very powerful lobbies for it but we managed to regulate and eventually get rid of it once we realized how dangerous it was.

I own guns. I enjoy target shooting. I would not have a problem with regulating them in a very strict manner. The example of Germany is fine with me.

There is no good reason not to regulate them very strictly. Given the carnage and destruction they can produce.

Yearly registration.
100% back ground checks.
Safety training.
Proof of secure storage.
Mag Caps.
Mental evals.

What is it going to take to get this country to do something to at least try to reduce the insanity of gun violence.

I read a news story about a ten year old yesterday that got put in time out by his mom before school and got hold of a firearm and shot himself...he died. Still waiting to see if it is labeled a "tragic accident" by LE or negligent homicide as it should be.

Welcome to the new year same as the old year...

Confrontations with citizens dropped from 50,000 to 8,800
Arrests dropped from 8,800 to 6,900.

So in other words life threatening confrontations drop 41,200 but arrests only drop 3,100. It seems these confrontations (or stop and question) were horribly ineffective anyway (note the number of arrests) and every one of these poses the risk of a civil rights violation, lawsuit, loss of career, incarceration for the LEO, death to the LEO and/or the citizen.

Do we have evidence that reported crimes are not being investigated or that LEOs are not detaining when a crime has been observed?

When the majority of this board went crazy over the North Carolina shooting (the man exits the car with a cocked pistol and refuses to drop it after being ordered multiple times, he is shot, and lifesaving measures are immediately applied). The argument on this board was that the man should never have been confronted. He displayed a gun and had an illegal substance (whether that substance should be illegal or not - it is not relevant). In the future, unless he is pointing that gun at kids, I am giving him a pass. That is what they are doing in Chicago now.

Or are we not supposed to be concerned?

Are you suggesting the Police should just let the gangs fight it out on the streets, rather than risk getting in a confrontation?

Your argument suggests they are being more efficient on the one hand (Paragraph 2) and that they are just going to let everyone do as they please rather risk having to shoot someone on camera.

I think the cops are simply having a little slow down for political purposes. By the way I see Rahm is hiring 1000 more police.

Far more precious than human life. I have accepted that controlling them is a political impossibility, and that trying to do so is a recipe for our side to lose electorally.

I accept the loss of life as the price our society pays for what it has chosen to value above all else. The only thing I can do is try to keep me and my family from being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
