The Democrats are pushing back against President-elect Donald Trump and his burgeoning administration, and are advocating for meaningful investigations of Russian interference in the election. It is simply not true that they are "doing nothing."Source: Shareblue, by Melissa McEwen
President-elect Donald Trump has not yet been inaugurated and is already terrifying progressives (and not a few conservatives) with his diplomatic recklessness, unwillingness to resolve his vast conflicts of interest, chaotic transition, and alarming Cabinet-building.

As a result of all of these profound concerns around Trumps impending presidency, rank-and-file Democrats urgently want their elected representatives to take action.
And they have. Unfortunately, there is nonetheless a pervasive message that they are doing nothing. This is inaccurate.
Last night, I published an extensive tweetstorm pushing back on this demoralizing messaging, which is republished here in full, below.

She could be the one hounding him out of office, and get media ratings and ad dollars generated!

(28,136 posts)A surprising number of lawmakers in the minority say they'd play ball if the changes aren't too far-reaching.
Senate Democrats will never vote to repeal Obamacare. But once the deed is done, a surprising number of them say theyre open to helping Republicans replace it.
If it makes sense, I think therell be a lot of Democrats who would be for it, said Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.).

(16,104 posts)"Obamacare" IS the Republican healthcare plan.
If virtually the same plan is offered, with another "name" attached - and it was bi-partisan - I think Democrats could help, and in fact, since "Obama" is not attached anymore, could 'fix' some of the issues.
Which also would be ironic - and Obama would have material for yet another book!

(28,136 posts)Too soon. It just pisses off us already upset at this election and it makes Democrats look weak.
Here's a response I'd rather see,
"The Republicans have had over six years to develop an ACA replacement plan. We haven't seen the details of that plan. Until we do there will be no comments at this time".

(42,008 posts)The article bugs me though
Interviews with more than a half-dozen Democratic senators spanning the party's ideological spectrum suggest the Republican strategy may not be far-fetched. As harshly partisan as the entire Obamacare experience has been, replacing it could draw bipartisan backing, as long as the changes are more adjustment than overhaul.
Articles like this always bug me.

Democrats are us.
