I first met and interviewed Ron Paul in '88 when he was what he always has been...a "Libertarian"...and a selfish one at that. This guy seems to have really fallen for his own cult of personality. He's gonna dictate party platform terms? Yeah right. Even with his machinations that got him more delegates than he deserved/earned based on primary votes he still doesn't hold enough delegates to do more than make a lot of noise and nothing else. Yet there he was dictating terms. Hopefully he'll let his ego continue to grow and turn the rushpublican swillfest in Tampa into a real circus.

Kudos to Sam to long ask this snake oil salesman the obvious. He throws around the words "freedom" and "liberty" as though he invented or own them...what a pompous ass!

What made it so sweet is that Sam asked the question towards the end so all the BS that went before was exposed as he stuttered his way around the answer. That was freaking priceless.

you are completely correct, I have never known another repuke halfwit, such as paul, that is so deeply in love with themselves.

You hit it on the head when you called that libertarian moron selfish.

And buy into the whole right wing talking point of it being an unsustainable communist ponzi scheme. These are people in their mid thirties to mid forties. After paying in they are resigned to give it up. Drives me insane. Democrats need to do a better job explaining the program and why we need to strengthen it.

All the tea party/republicans I know collect ss, use Medicare and spout off on how we need to get rid of it. It's for them but not their kids.

I didn't see this - who asked the question? Sam...Donaldson?

Anyway, whichever Sam we are talking about, this is beautiful - I love that someone, anyone, asked Paul that question. Hope it shows up on the YouTubes.

His whole working life he was forced to pay into a system in which he does not believe. Is his objection to the system a reason why he should not accept the benefits that the system -- to which he has contributed -- does provide?

Applying for Medicare and taking Social Security. Those social safety nets are garbage until you need/want them.
They drip with their own hypocrisy. What's infuriating are all the blind followers. You can't criticize their heroes or you're just a "hater". So, of course the project that on to Democrats/progressives. We're not so blind -we can see the faults in our leaders and will often criticize them, but they think that just because they blindly worship, that we do as well.
I hope this is on the Majority Report today!

Can't believe no one ever thought to ask him that before.

Meanwhile, anyone who has any sense knows all we need to do is raise the cap on Social Security.

What a hypocrite he is. He has a pension plan and great health care plan courtesy of the rest of us. Oh and the salary he receives as well.
