Gunman who wounded 9 was wearing Nazi paraphernalia, sources say

HOUSTON - The gunman who carried out Monday morning's shooting that wounded nine people was wearing what appeared to be Nazi paraphernalia, two law enforcement sources told Channel 2 Investigates' Robert Arnold.

The shooting was reported just after 6 a.m. near a shopping center on the northwest corner of Weslayan and Bissonnet streets.

Interim Houston Police Chief Martha Montalvo said that officers responded to the scene and were able to quickly locate the gunman in the 4400 block of Law Street. She said the shooter immediately began firing at the officers and they returned fire.

The gunman was found dead shortly after, she said.

"It’s my understanding that he was neutralized by police," Montalvo said.

Law enforcement sources said that the shooter was wearing what appeared to be an antique German uniform with Swastikas on it.

Sorry, only members of a certain religious group automatically receive the label "terrorist".

We have a black president, racism is over in America... or President Obama is responsible for all racism and we never had racial issues before he assumed the office of presidency.

Makes you mind hurt, doesn't it?

"what appeared to be an antique German uniform with Swastikas on it"

Nazi lawyers. Great.

But I'm wondering if by "Nazi paraphernalia" they mean "things with swastikas on them".

Before being hi-jacked by Germany, the swastika had much deeper roots in India.

You don't really come across a whole lot of Indian Nazis.

Is that I think it is fair to say that ANYONE who starts shooting at people in a parking lot is f-d up in the head.

There was a mass shooting at a party in Illinois (down in "Chambana&quot yesterday as well. Not as interesting, though.

OTOH, there are some Indians who identify as "the original Aryans", so there's that.

He was a engineer. My coworker and I went in his office. He would shake my hand but wouldn't shake his. My coworker was black. Some still have strong feelings about the caste system. But in the end I agree with you this guy was messed up in the head.

But I agree that the ideology is secondary to the choice to commit violence.
