but emigrated to Great Britain as a kid. He now represents Britain in international track events. I think the point of the OP is that Brits are cheering his gold medal in the 10,000 meter race, but voted for Brexit largely because of so many immigrants in the country.

Our vacation home (a 50-year-old MH) in Florida is on a marsh where the Floridian aquifer comes to the surface in a large bowl bounded on 2 sides by river and higher ground on the others. People think we couldn't end up submerged in a giant lake because it's never happened, and I know it could. Just need some heavy rains on saturated soils combined with hurricane surge keeping the river from flowing out, or even flowing backward. That's why we went for an ancient MH with no real value. Our version of "preparedness" was nailing an old wooden ladder in the shed to the side of one of the porches. From the roof, if need be, we could climb into the old live oak that arches over.
