age has taken away the ability to hit the high notes, but so inspirational to see them still it.
Scary thought when I realize I'm aging right along with them.
So proud of my generation.

At the end they had the whole audience since "I Feel the Earth Move" and everyone knew every single word - I just looked around and saw every woman there (it was a matinee, mostly women), figuratively clutching a copy of "Tapestry" to her chest.

I haven't sung it since the 70s, when I used to play my mom's Tapestry LP over and over and over, loving every song, but that one always made me cry, because I always, always, wanted someone who had my back; not a "friend" like we make in middle school, but someone whose name I could call out in a time of need.

I've had a mostly good, if hard life, but I've never had that person, except now in my grown sons.

I haven't listened since the 70s, but I can still sing it word for word. And while I still love it, I didn't really love it here. It doesn't fit. It left me with the same feeling when I see an old favorite usurped for some blatantly commercial purpose on tv. I guess it wouldn't bother me if I thought it fit the situation.

Folks used to debate whether S & G's Bridge Over Troubled Water was better than Aretha's version.
I had a good laugh at a party one night decades as two guys were arguing big time over that - I told them to listen to the words of the song and STFU - they could love both versions
