The media MUST get ratings and they will generate "discord" even if there is little or none.

They don't want to hear about issues
They want to talk about dissent
Booing and protests.
ONLY ONE TIME DID THE MEDIA FOCUS ON PROTESTERS
OUTSIDE during the RNC convention.
Those poor dumb asses booing are playing right into the
tRump/Putin/ RNC/Republican strategy.

in fact, the convention is unwinding just I thought it would.

They try to keep the commentary (read: drama) to a minimum. And if
anyone really wants interviews, they are on live later than the others.

It's opposing arguments with the more vitriole the better. Since a reality TV star is the GOP nominee that model that conflict driven model for both entertainment and news media, apparently is good for ratings and the bottom line. In the end, it just shows how classless US media can be.

say right off the bat that "this is a LOT MESSIER than the GOP convention!!!!" Pant pant pant! Right after watching breathless Steve Kornacki act like he was about to soil his drawers because of Barnie Frank being booed.
I liked it when one of the first speakers said "Democracy is messy, this is democracy!" And the whole crowd started chanting "This is what democracy looks like."

Do yourself a favor and see if you can get DNCTV on cable. We have ATT Uverse. No commentary by corporate shills. It's wonderful!
