In 1994, when Chris Christie was running for freeholder in Morris County, he ran a television ad saying his opponents were being investigated by the county Prosecutor's Office. That was a lie, but the ad ran continually and Christie won the election. Eventually he settled a defamation suit and had to issue an apology. Is Chris Christie guilty or not guilty of saying anything to get elected?

In September 2013, when Chris Christie was running for reelection as governor of New Jersey, access lanes to the George Washington Bridge were blocked in Fort Lee. He repeatedly stated over the following months that he knew nothing about the lane diversions and no one in his office knew about them in advance, either. After The Record broke the story on Jan. 8, 2014, showing that members of Christie's staff did know about the lane closures, he fired his deputy chief of staff and his former campaign director.

One Christie appointee at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, David Wildstein, has pleaded guilty to criminal charges relating to the GWB; his deputy chief of staff, Bridget Anne Kelly, awaits trial, along with another Christie appointee, Bill Baroni. Is Chris Christie guilty or not guilty of placing unethical individuals in positions of power?

This month, Chris Christie's close friend and former appointee as chairman of the Port Authority, David Samson, admitted he used his power at that agency to coerce United Airlines to run a money-losing flight for his personal benefit. After that admission, Christie said Samson's life should not be judged by this "one lapse of judgment." Is Chris Christie guilty or not guilty of having a double standard for public conduct for his personal friends?

For several years, Chris Christie has said there was no impending crisis in New Jersey with regard to its Transportation Trust Fund, while he knew the fund would be depleted by the summer of 2016. A state Senate plan had been floated for weeks, but at the last minute, Chris Christie offered his own plan with but days left before new funding needed to be authorized. When the Senate did not agree with him, Christie put the mechanism in place to start shutting down all non-emergency TTF projects and left New Jersey to go to Italy with his wife. Is Chris Christie guilty or not guilty of creating the current infrastructure crisis in New Jersey?

In 2014, Chris Christie was out of New Jersey for 137 days. In 2015, he was out of state for 190 full days and 71 partial days. By the time Christie suspended his presidential campaign on Feb. 10, he had been out of New Jersey 32 full or partial days this year. Is Chris Christie guilty or not guilty of abandoning his responsibilities as chief executive of the state of New Jersey in pursuit of his own political ambitions?

While U.S. attorney, Chris Christie was not conservative with the public's money when he traveled. Over the course of his two terms as governor, Chris Christie has accepted lavish gifts from people he claims are friends, including the owner of the Dallas Cowboys and the king of Jordan. While the governor is not bound by the same rules on accepting gifts as are other public officials in New Jersey, is Chris Christie guilty or not guilty of using his positions in government to, as he once said to The New York Times, "squeeze all the juice out of the orange" that he can?

As governor of New Jersey, it is expected that Chris Christie would stand up for the people of his state. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump claimed thousands of Muslims in New Jersey cheered on 9/11. That was false. Chris Christie not only endorsed Trump for president, but has taken on the role of chairman of the Trump transition team. Is Chris Christie guilty or not guilty of putting his own special interests ahead of the reputation of all Muslims living in New Jersey?

When Chris Christie ran for reelection in 2013, he courted Hispanics. In his first term, he nominated Sohail Mohammed, a Muslim, to serve as a Superior Court judge. At the time, Christie said critics of his judicial pick were "crazies." Today Christie is campaigning for a candidate who called Mexicans rapists, who advocates for mass deportation of undocumented immigrants and who supports a temporary ban on Muslim immigration into the United States. Is Chris Christie guilty or not guilty of hypocrisy?

2. Somebody Still Has To Dig Deeper Into....

the United Air Lines case. There were substantial donations to Christie's gubernatorial campaign from United executives who lived in Chicago and Houston during the time United was seeking favors from the Port Authority. That's NOT coincidence. The information to start any investigative journalism is easily found at http://www.followthemoney.org/. Quid pro quo campaign donations will bring him crashing down. If the Watergate investigation had stopped this far short, Nixon would have finished his second term and Woodward would be covering the Redskins for the Washington Post. But this is a really nice job by Mr. Doblin.

When Hurricane Sandy hit the state and billions in federal aid came pouring into the state, did Mr. Christie divert that money to further his personal political interests instead of rebuilding the state or did he spend it wisely on helping the people impacted by the storm? Are there still people not back in their homes nearly 4 years later? Is Chris Christie guilty or not guilty of abusing his control over federal money for his own personal gain?
