(481 posts)Just curious I think she is trying her best not to say Islamic terrorism.

(1,339 posts)The petro-dollar uber alles, trillions in profit for the MIC, with added bonus of vastly reduced civil liberties for all. Don't forget the double extra bonus of right wing fascist governments sweeping to power soon in the EU and quite possibly the US.

(7,290 posts)Of course there is, and we've been fighting it for nearly 15 years now.
I see nothing wrong with speaking the truth...unconventional warfare is still warfare.

(83 posts)The U.S. created ISIS, created the refugee crisis. ISIS is literally sweeping Iraq, Lybia Yemen and Syria and killing or enslaving all in their path. America brought this down on these innocent people.
For America to suddenly wash our hands of any responsibility in stopping this terrorist group ( a tangible, not a concept as the "war on terror" is) is immoral. It is most definitely a war.

(7,290 posts)just as she said.
Not Islam itself, and not all Muslims.

(751 posts)I use this comparison not as way of conflating the two, but to illustrate how difficult the task is. If this was Islamic radicals, most likely it as cell of one or two family/closely related individuals who acted in isolation. Approaching it like a war is self defeating process and makes the situation worse.

(83 posts)are recruiting radicals for the purposes of killing anyone who is not Islamic as they interpret the Quran. Who are enslaving young girls and women. Who are heavily armed and trained because they are made up of former Ba'athists from the defunct Iraqi army and former leaders of the Republican guard.

(50 posts)This doesn't look good. Frankly, more war will only exacerbate this situation. Cooler heads must prevail.

(16,104 posts)We have international forces in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, flying over multiple nations all over the Middle East, drone strikes just about anywhere with no respect for borders.
Who are we targeting?
Radical jihadists. Who are 'practicing' a radical extremist death-cult version of Islam they are picking up from manipulative crazies (like bin Laden) or crazed websites (like everywhere on the internet!).
Do we call all homophobes "radical fundamentalist Christians" because Westboro Baptist Church practices homophobia?

(481 posts)which I agree but which she means that it can't be a just a military solution war.
This enemy that we fight called ISIL uses social media to recruit and actively plan attacks on the West.
We also need to start using more forceful words when describing the enemy, not radical Islam like the right does
to demonize Muslims. We should not use words such as a "jv team" or "workplace violence" because we know what type of enemy
this is and being nice to them will not make them go away.
