3 in custody 1 dead.

that makes at least 4 active shooters that were involved.

is this the sad new trend in public massacres?

the nation was outraged over Orlando. but what came of it?

the nation was outraged over Sandy Hook? but what came of it?

the nation was outraged...pick your favorite massacre du jour, and what fucking came of it?

now dallas, I ask you again, what will become of that? what will change in any sort of meaningful way?

our congress critters will have sit ins, filibuster marathons, people will protest, the president will make yet another sad statement about our fucked up society, and honestly what will happen?

talk show after talk show will have guests on by the number wringing their hands over the violence, but what will come of it?

the families will be interviewed, charity foundations will be created, donations will be collected, but what will come of it?

NOTHING.

WHY?

Until the NRA is kept from flooding money into the coffers of the puppet-like congress morons they control, what's going to happen?

NOT A DAMN THING.

just another hour in America.

3. This is what bothers me about the obsessive concern for "motive"
Fri Jul 8, 2016, 09:23 AM
Jul 2016

It's important to some people to figure out, in the wake of every mass shooting, "why did they do it?" as if it matters.

Because as long as you can forget that these were ill-intended people with guns, and then focus on some larger group of "people I don't like", then we can conveniently ignore that the common thread is "ill-intended people with guns".

But if the motive - i.e. the excuse that the shooter(s) latched onto in order to provide themselves with some justification for the horrible thing they were inclined to do - lines up with a cause we like, then of course it was a "false flag operation".

Kid with mental health issues shoots up a school - "Oh, we gotta do something about mental health."

Kid with confederate flag shoots up a church - "Oh, we gotta do something about confederate flags."

Man claiming loyalty to disparate Jihadists shoots up a nightclub - "Oh, we gotta do something about Muslims."

Anything, ANYTHING, but the sacred holy gunz.

There is right and there is wrong, but the media always gives the NRA the opportunity to present their point of view and treat it as equally relevant.

The NRA and gun rights people will be on all the media outlets spewing their usual talking points, diluting the reality that the proliferation of guns in this country make it easy for unstable and hateful people to create massive chaos and harm.

congress won't do anything until they stop taking money from the NRA, but they won't stop taking money from the NRA because they know that they get votes from crazy gun owners.

Guns and Ammo industry. On the home page of DU this morning is not only the news of the shootings of black men by white cops, of the shootings of cops by snipers in Dallas, but also the news that Smith & Wesson stock is WAYYYY up.

Monsanto and Shell Oil are not the only corporations that makes billions of $$$ by killing people.

Police did defend themselves. If no one had been shooting back, far more would have died. He was cornered by police returning fire. That's how the whole thing was brought to an end. Are you disputing that?

1. Why hasn't the name or a photo of the slain suspect/suspects in custody been released yet?

2. Killed by a robot detonated bomb?

3. "I wanted to kill white people. Especially white officers. I AM acting alone"?

4. Any military/law enforcement types have any comments about the video of the shooter...the way he moves...handles the weapon...uses the pillar for cover...its almost textbook?

5. 700 marching protestors and not a single misplaced round (that we know of)?...only his intended targets.

6. 2 guys loading bags into a Mercedes and speeding away? (This may not be entirely accurate.)

I mock and laugh at almost all conspiracies, because almost all are positively insane. Please help debunk the thoughts forming in my head.

2. Yes, they put a bomb on a glorified RC car and drove it in, is that impossible?

3. What is the question? You copy pasted the dead guys comment...

4. Xavier Johnson had a military background.

5. Not a single misplaced round? I believe it is reported that 2 protestors were shot.

6. A Mercedes was in the area, and this means what? The automakers were behind it all?

People are organized, speaking out and demanding action.

It took a long time for women to get the vote and for minorities to win equal rights. This country does nothing easily. The politicians have to be dragged, kicking and screaming, to do the right thing.

We will get there, eventually, on this issue. But the NRA is going demand an awful lot of American blood be shed first.

Cops will become more heavily armed (if that is possible), they will shoot non-whites even sooner (if that is even possible), they will be more aggressive during stops (if that is even possible), and white power groups of all kinds will see this as license to randomly kill anyone they don't approve of.

Oh, and a lot more guns will be sold to white people.

Fri Jul 8, 2016, 11:56 AM

can do nothing on their own -- they need politicians to do their bidding. It seems obvious that the current band of corrupt right-wing and Libertarian legislators at all levels of government are in the employment of the gun lobby, so the answer is to replace them with Democrats who will stand up to the NRA.

Replacing bought-and-paid-for politicians will not only help reduce gun violence in this country, but it just may help to overturn travesties like Citizens United and the whole right-wing fascist war-mongering MIC agenda.

Waiting to hear more about them. I really hope this isn't what it looks like: Racists would love to be able to claim that blacks are to blame and so we need more guns.

Guns and a few bad cops are to blame. But society allows both guns and bad cops.
