In the wake of the Referendum result, followed by one of the most un-predictable weeks in politics, Opinium Research tried to better understand how the UK population is reacting now they are faced with the reality of Brexit and a new prime minister.
Perhaps with this volatile situation in mind, 7% of those who voted Leave feel like they did not make the right choice, compared to just 3% amongst those who voted Remain.
When it comes to the negotiations to extricate the UK from the European Union, 43% think its unlikely well be able to stay in the single market and limit freedom of movement, including three in ten (29%) Leave voters. For a third (33%) curbing immigration is of the utmost importance in the negotiations with the EU while for 37% staying in the single market is the priority.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Leavers want to prioritise the end of free movement of labour (58%), while Remainers want to prioritise staying in the single market (65%).

For Leave voters, ending immigration is still the number one priority. While staying in the common market is the biggest issue for the Remain voters and has a plurality overall.

(16,423 posts)52%*93% = 48.36%
48%*97% = 46.56%
This result isn't normalized yet to "conservation of probability", but it's already clear that Brexit would also have won in this scenario.
If the people with buyer's remorse had voted opposite:
52%*93% + 48%*3% = 49.8%
48%*97% + 52%*7% = 50.2%
In that scenario, Bremain would have won.
Bad Thoughts
(2,541 posts)I suspect that the feelings of regret are shallow, reflecting the risk to their financial situation, not a new embrace of the diversity of united Europe or the project of European federalism as a whole. The Brits will always have one foot out, trying to leave.
