General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDo you sense a Trump-weariness beginning to descend across the land?
I do.
It's subtle but there.
You can see it in his crowd who seems to be getting tired of hearing the same dozen points (and prompts like "Who's going to build the wall, folks?" interspersed with his braggadocio and name calling. The points might still have some resonance(though hearing them repeated in the same fashion must be a bit boring even for them) but the bragging is only tolerable to them when they unquestioningly love the man, and I sense that love beginning to wane.
When it starts to go, it will go fast.

(22,074 posts)The people attending Donald Trump's rallies and supporting his so-called campaign are frighteningly ignorant. If Mr. Trump were to give a detailed policy speech (I know, don't laugh), his audience wouldn't understand what he was talking about.

(12,486 posts)His entire campaign was lazy, he was smug, like the cat that who swallowed the canary behavior...The Convention is also in Ohio, the state he currently is governor. He is a 100% committed, gop'er minion with a fox-news fan base.
Kasich may the campaign surprise....I hope not...but want to share my intuitive sense here...

(30,824 posts)He ran for the office, which leading Republicans agreed was a requirement, Cruz does not have wide appeal so couldn't win, and putting in any of the others - like Bush or Rubio - would be an embarrassment to the party because of how little support they garnished during the primaries.
So Kasich it would be, imo. He is more mainstream within the GOP, he could win Ohio, and he could give Hillary a run for her money.

(9,426 posts)He is just a bloated, orange blowhard. Full of himself, and his "greatness" I can't wait for this to be over, then he will file for bankruptcy once again. I doubt that he is really rich, it is all smoke and mirros with a large dash of narcisism.

The fact that Americans would put him this close to the presidency is very scary to me. How could we, as a nation, be this incredibly stupid and hate-driven?
brewens
(13,671 posts)in his place at the convention. That would let him out of getting trounced in the GE or actually having to be president. His rabble would be all fired up over that and he'd have all kinds of ammunition to keep him in the headlines. Ultimately, a YUUUUGE book deal and movie rights!
Despite what he's said about Hillary, he probably wouldn't have a big problem with it all handing her the White House.

(3,867 posts)He is still in the primaries, saying how great he WAS in the polls. Now he doesn't think the polls are so great. Walls, undocs, muslims, insults, crooked Hillary, how great he is, repeat, repeat, repeat, I can't stand it anymore! I use the mute button a lot. When has he ever addressed an issue with a reasonable plan? Using nuclear weapons on ISIS????????? Killing families of suspected terrorists????? WTF?
His VP choice s/b Dennis Rodman, Kim Jong-un's BFF.
It appears he has less people coming to his rallies. Wonder how many he has paid to show up.
Go Elizabeth! Love to hear her go after him. Hillary's best weapon & Bernie will be great, once he gets on board. Trump calls him crazy Bernie.

I still dont see many Hillary bumper stickers. So, anecdotal, but there you have it. Media dons want Hillary (or Jeb!) and care not which they get. So I predict the Rs will try to install someone other than Trump, but it will go badly for them.

He might just grab some of the states.
Good chance there'll be 2 republicans, Trump and not-Trump to split the reds. The not-Trump may steal some states with a big not-HRC.

(19,286 posts)There is nothing the media loves more than to build a celebrity up only to tear them down. The Trump hype machine made for great ratings and it helped him win the Republican nomination, but now that we're in the general campaign everything he says is being disected for the racist drivel it is. He can't buy a sympathetic story right now. By Novemeber he might be the most unpopular person in the country.

(12,418 posts)The shame is upon many who may have jumped on the Trump train and they may very well slink off with their tails between their legs.
However, never be surprised by the actions of the masses or their presumed psychopathic leader.
It is when you have your enemy down that it is time to start kicking. They should not be allowed to rise back up and should be subjected to continual harassment and shame.
We need to make Trump and his minions the symbols of what can go wrong when hatred rises its ugly head for all future generations.
Kick 'em when they up, kick 'rm when they down.
