Here's a link to an in-depth analysis and criticism of Congressman Gingrich's support for Donald Trump:

In brief, Mr. Gingrich has articulated a perspective for Republican wins this November. Interestingly, Mr. Trump's campaign has so far acted in direct contrast to Mr. Gingrich's plan. The author of the article also critiques those plans.
Could it be possible that Mr. Gingrich wants to be Mr. Trump's vice president because he could follow in Dick Cheney's model?

As far as Gingrich being Trump's VP, it would just increase the percentage by which Trump loses.

(32,886 posts)In a VP Candidate, you want
1. Someone who supports you, and your position on the issues obviously.
2. Someone who would be a good attack dog against the other side
3. Someone who has the experience and knowledge that signals to voters they could credibly take over as President if necessary
4. Particularly for folks who lack a lot of experience at the national level, like Obama in 2008 and Trump now, you want someone who has experience moving bills in the congress so they can help get your agenda passed.
There is no one remotely close to this on the GOP side other than Gingrich.

Btw, Trump's meeting with Henry Kissinger this afternoon, brush up his foreign policy expertise a bit. Not that he isn't the biggest expert already. I'd sure love to hear Kissinger's description of that.
