There is no close by water. No idea why they are next to the most traveled (6 lane) hi-way in the state.

(2,899 posts)I have pet mallards and the trick is walking slowly behind them with your arms outstretched to guide them and discourage them from flying off.

(21,684 posts)I'm on a two lane road. and a duck and her babies are crossing the road... SLOWLY. I sit there for a few minutes and so does traffic in the other direction. by now cars are stacked up.
Finally they all clear off the road and we start to go, and the SECOND I start to accelerate, the all get spooked and fly right back across the road to where they had come from *facepalm*
