If you support Donald Trump, after all the racist things he has said, then you are a bigot as well

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/king-support-donald-trump-bigot-article-1.2626069

If you support Donald Trump, after all he has said and done to offend virtually every ethnic group in America, after he has been blatantly gross and bigoted and inhumane, then you are a bigot as well.

His bigotry isn't a secret. It's been widely publicized here and in virtually every mainstream media outlet in this country. To support him with a vote is to condone what he has already said and done.

Conservatives had other choices....

Republican primary voters, though, chose Trump. Denying why they chose him isn't just insincere, it's a lie. The Republican Party has now become a front for white nationalism and Donald Trump is its leader.

whenever I encounter a Trump supporter they inevitably say, "He says what he thinks". I specifically ask them, WHAT does he actually think or say that APPEALS to you? OMG *THAT* is where the stumbling and stuttering starts. The fact is, Trump is popular with people who feel they cannot openly express their racism, bigotry, misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, etc. HE IS THEIR RACIST SPOKESPERSON.

I've run into about a handful or so of them so far. They all don't know what to do when you ask them why they support Tump. It's obvious they know what I'm getting at and they do every, and anything to avoid admitting why.

Mostly, where I am it was Cruz supporters. They all said they were Christians, and wanted to bring God back into our leadership. Since they're by majority baptist I bring up Roger Williams and how his words inspired Jefferson to coin the phrase, "seperation of church and state."

Usually, we didn't even make it to article 6 of the Constitution after that. They lose interest, have something else to do, etc.

But if they have a half-way coherent answer, then ask them which of his contradictory positions do they believe. He has both sides on every issue.

There are many out there her were programmed by Fox News, Rush Limpballs, Michael Savage, Hannity, Mike Levin (sp), Glenn Beck...

Using our public airwaves they have brainwashed, not just the Trump supporters, but many of us in sometimes subtle ways. There are so many things not being honestly reported on. Ed Schultz did a segment a day for five days and a highlights show on the following Monday on what is really happening with the victims, the (non) compensation system, the health of the Gulf, and was let go two months later by MSNBC (His support of Bernie was probably a bridge too far). Corporate media is not going to produce a show supporting a man who would break them up if elected. He knew he was going to catch hell for doing it, but he truly cared for these people and did it anyway. He was shocked at what he didn't know, believing there was ever a twenty billion dollar fund etc. That's because BP bought so much advertising on the Gulf Coast for several years after the spill.

The Republican Party and the RW media were always quick to blame things on minorities, immigrants, LGBT, Muslims you name it. It was always misdirection to keep blame off of the rich. Now they have created a monster that will be generational, passed down from parent to child, creating a lot of new family trees of racism that previously had not have them. They have been having a run on new members in the last 35-40 years with corporate media planting the seeds, it's now harvest time. Too bad it's a Stephen King kind of evil kind of harvest. I shudder to think how much worse it will get if he is elected President.

Politicians, in general, are afraid of being called bigots.

Liberals, in general, are TERRIFIED of being, or being called, bigots.

Conservative voters, in general, are neither afraid of being, or being called, bigots, because 1) they're actively choosing that position and 2) they're not running for political office.

What is the NYDN's point here?

Why do you think conservatives hide their bigotry behind dog whistles? Because they know they'd never be elected in general elections if they were openly racist, sexist, and otherwise bigoted.

Just ask Todd Akin in 2012, who put his foot in his mouth with his "legitimate rape" comment. Just ask Rick Santorum, who had his ass handed to him by Bob Casey, Jr. in Pennsylvania in 2008. What about Murdock (sp?) in Indiana in 2012, who lost to Sen. Donnely in 2012 because he was on the wrong side of the rape issue.

A lot of young will support Trump if Bernie is not the candidate. They are looking at their survival, not on social conscience. In their world, for the most part, they have lived a socially free life, but when it comes to their economic survival, it looks bleak.

If you think that every political supporter knows exactly what their candidate stands for, then I've got a bridge for you. The fact is, that in 2008, whenever I asked why someone supported Obama, their answer was either or both, he's black and he's for hope and change. And yet, they would go all gaga over the guy and could not give you one thing he said, after they just came out of a rally for him.

You seem to think elections are logical, they are not, and never have been and nor have they been honest.

Calling all that support Trump derogatory names does not help Hillary's campaign, it only tends to have them dig their feet in more. I remember John Kerry's campaign and how no one here could even conceive that he would lose. He lost.

They could have chose a Bush or someone in the inside...just like we have the choice or an insider or an outsider.
They are choosing the outsider and it looks like we will choose the insider.
Now the question will be is what do independent voters choose. And considering the mood of the country it could be the outsider.

And if we think that calling them bigots or other names will change their mind you could be in for a big surprise. It usually has the effect of hardening the resolve and causing people to defend them.

But what do I know, I am just a poster on the internet.

liberals.

Racism and misogyny aren't as influential in that bloc unless the actions are so over the top as to appear fanatical. We had better have our ammunition lined up to attack on those grounds because the anti-PC mood is very strong and we could create a firestorm backlash.

and "like" him because of his TV shows, not what he's said into microphones over the last 6 months. This is why the GOP loves to dig up stars to run, they come in with automatic votes from dumb people who think TV is real.

Besides, he's pissing off all them pointy headed college boys in the party power structure, and that's the most worthwhile attribute he has for a lot of people who are being squeezed to death by establishment economics from both parties. His out of control raging resonates with them. They just don't really listen to the words.
