It was a feather-raising experience.

A mother duck and her ducklings were rescued from a storm sewer near 86th and Dodge Streets on Thursday afternoon. Eyewitnesses said the ducks had been in a grassy area on the south side of Dodge when a hawk “swooped” down on them. It appears the ducklings fell into the storm sewer drain while trying to escape.

"Passers-by were very worried and the mom didn't leave. She was pacing around it," said Nebraska Humane Society spokeswoman Pam Wiese.
