Why pay any taxes at all?

What would happen if nobody paid taxes?

1. I don't know,

I kinda like the whole thing with roads, bridges, food safety, fire and police protection.....

3. Why drive on roads or trust that anything you buy or consume including food and water is safe.

How about no electricity. It goes on and on.

4. There are countries with no taxes, but they also tend to be

oligarchies or dictatorships. One political scientest described Iran under the Shah as "no taxation, no representation." And I have had Iranian immigrant friends who thought they were being robbed by employers when they saw that income tax had been taken out of their pay.

I do think, though, that we could consider having some state industries as sources of revenue to supplement taxes. At the very least, when we bail our or subsidize corporations, the state ought to be compensated in stock that generates revenue, especially since we are probably borrowing the money from other corporations to donate to their coffers.
