Wasn't Ted the anointed one chosen after days, weeks and months of praying?
".... (Cruz's father speaking ) All of us were worshipping and the words that came out of Teds mouth were, 'Hear my lord, use me,'" Rafael told televangelist Kenneth Copeland. I believe God has raised him up for a time like this.
Cut to crowd of ministers gathered around Rafael Cruz praying. Copeland added, We are seeing a sweep of the move of the spirit of God from coast to coast all over this nation. We receive the outpouring of the holy spirit over Washington DC.
Either Rafael or God misled the poor guy -

(1,033 posts)this is one of those arguments that you can neither prove or disprove. "Everything happens for a reason" makes folks of faith feel better during bad times. That's why they call it faith.
I have faith that a God wouldn't "anoint" somebody POTUS. I struggle with both the "Hitler" thing and the "infant with terminal illness" thing so much that I don't follow the "faith" argument.

(14,691 posts)had a son in the Army - stationed in Iraq. He was travelling in an armored vehicle when it ran over an IED. Injuries/fatalities varied depending on where the victims were located in the vehicle. Her son was seriously injured. She told me they were "blessed." I thought to myself, what about the soldiers who were killed? Why weren't they "blessed"? And the soldiers who were less seriously injured? Were they more "blessed"? I'm not an atheist but I always have a problem with that kind of thinking. Seems simplistic.

(14,912 posts)prayers... but sometimes it's NOT the answer that you WANT. He does say NO, because he supposedly knows what's best for you, and has different plans for you.
I also remember a passage that said something along the lines of 'Go into your closets and pray in secret, for those who pray and preach from the pulpit and the street corners have already gotten their rewards. They have been given up to reprobate minds....'
It's the same as each team praying before a ball game. One of them loses, anyways. Does this mean that God chose his favorite, or one team just prayed harder than the other?
I always wonder how such a "Loving, Benevolent God" could allow all of the suffering in the world, or allow an innocent child to be harmed by sick, demented asshole like Denny Basturd, or allow people to go hungry, die of treatable illnesses, etc.
I'm a self-described atheist, but I follow a lot of the tenets of Buddhism, mixed with some Wicca, Paganism and Native American Spirituallity. I am Spiritual, but not religious. I don't subscribe to organized religion. I blazed my own trail, and follow my own Path.
Peace,
