Especially as the Republicans' nominee.
If he's their nominee, that's just too damn close for comfort for me.
He is just the wildest card possible.

(43,198 posts)Cruz has alienated so many people--including his own party--that while he has his radical ideology, I don't see a good amount of it being implemented. And what I would foresee is a very ineffective president who does a lot of whining but achieves very little, and we'd have a good shot after 4 years of getting back in there.
However, as crazy and radical as Cruz seems, he does seem more or less constrained by the political process and the checks and balances of the office. So while Cruz himself might seem scary, the prospect of him being President isn't quite as scary because I think he'd have a lot of factors working against him.
On the other hand, Trump has never been elected to any political office, but even worse, he is almost certainly clinically Cluster B, who is rash to make decisions, refuses to take criticism, and acts out in fits of rage against even the most mild of criticism. He doesn't like being told what to do, and that would include Congress, the Supreme Court, the Constitution, or anyone or anything else. We're talking about someone is literally mentally unstable in a malicious way, and that scares the everliving bejesus out of me.

(14,308 posts)Trump doesn't give any indication that he even understands the basic tenets of a republican form of government. Cruz understands the Constitution. You may not agree with an interpretation he has, but he respects it. Trump will ignore it.
In the last two days he's said the following
If the Speaker Of The House doesn't get along with him, the Speaker will have to pay a big price.
If he orders the generals to commit war crimes, you bet they'd do it because he told them to.
Yes, Trump is much worse than Cruz.

(149,699 posts)But somehow Trump is more dangerous than the rest.
I guess it's because he lacks any gov't. experience or diplomatic skills.

(32,077 posts)in NYC and DC has no government experience or diplomatic skills? That says a lot about you. Do you know how many permits, inspections, zoning changes, etc. are required? Attack him on his political positions but your position is ridiculous.

(23,867 posts)Whatever it was, I don't want to even think about his version of what a fully prepared military looks like. I'm not prepared to even think about what happens if things don't go the way they should in a coherent society. It's stressful, no doubt.

Cruz is a mad end timer lunatic.
Rubio is dumb and clueless.
Trump is just egotistical empty suit who really thinks he know stuff.
Carson would be the least of our worries because he'd likely sleep through his four year term.
They are all very, very bad!
That's why we have to unite against them, no matter who the Dem nominee is.

(6,692 posts)Cruz believes in religious freedom. He's totally OK with the choice to fall in the floor and twitch or fall in the floor and lay still when hit by the Holy Ghost. You are also free to raise either the right or left hand when giving praise to God when you go to church. (and you WILL go to church).
dchill

(36,289 posts)In the days of wooden ships and iron men , a loose cannon referred to a cannon whose carriage had slipped out of its proper position in the gun port and was free to roll around the deck of the ship as it swayed and rolled, crushing and injuring the gunners and sailors. Thus a loose cannon is 'one of our own' who is out of control and inflicting casualties on his own side.
