(5,792 posts)It would save over 5 Trillion.........you ease into it. As Bernie says it won't happen overnight but I say it will happen. You act like Bernie hasn't said anything about it. Do research.

(7,290 posts)States do administer single payer.
Not saying that's bad, just that it's there.

(36,225 posts)On edit, pointing out you edited your post.
Secondly, we already have this problem with the expansion of medicaid.
Sorry, i dont want governors controlling this.

(5,792 posts)and sometimes I type a word and it is not the word I wish to type. Just a thing when getting old.......I do believe that Bernie will not leave it up to the states although I did not know that it stated that regarding the states....thanks.

(48,181 posts)Are we still concerned about the 14 trillion dollars and the huge taxes, or have those concerns reached their expiration date?

(131,391 posts)as it's probably not necessary to do so, but all the exploding heads on the issue are counter-productive, imo.
We need a new and newly evolving healthcare SYSTEM, as we have NO system now, and it will take time to establish such. In the meantime, we should develop realistic goals, and make changes toward establishing a Healthcare for ALL system gradually.

(72,790 posts)We must protect ObamaCare for Obama's legacy.
This medicare for all likely will not pass before the next election.
Do not tarnish Obama's signature piece of legislation.
Obama.

(9,610 posts)so I am able to get the subsidized medicaid through the ACA for myself and child.
It is by far the best coverage I have ever had in my lifetime, way surpassing any corporate insurance plan I have had. If there is an issue that needs addressed I go in, get it taken care of, and walk out. End of story.

(50,333 posts)Besides the avoidance of insurance company profiteering, we'd be combining quite a number of separate agencies into one, thus streamlining the process and probably costing a whole lot less.

(54,770 posts)pass right now. It -- or something like it -- is the thing to do, but if it won't pass . . . . . . We might get a public option.

(1,486 posts)I could see Title VII being tweaked, but Medicare for All wouldn't necessitate repealing the retirement provisions.

(13,933 posts)We'd end up with nothing as republicans in the house would be happy to vote to repeal but wouldn't replace.
I support adding an option to purchase Medicare through the exchanges, increased subsidies, and cost controls like O'Malley proposes.

(7,290 posts)But I also believe that those who want to pay cash to get care outside of single payer should be permitted to. They still should have to pay the taxes that pay for single-payer, but if they don't want to use the system, fine. More money for the system for those who do use it.

(39,215 posts)are included in Medicare for All. I am thinking about institutional care - Medicare pays for the first 180 days in a nursing home - after that you either pay it yourself or Medicaid pays for it if you cannot.
There is also the issue of medications (Part D?) that will need to be included. It does you no good to go to the doctor if you cannot afford the drugs the doctor tells you to take.
