It is clearly gambling, and to pretend otherwise is bullshit. BUT then the discussion comes around to how you feel about gambling and whether it should be legal or illegal, more regulated or less regulated.
I personally am against gambling, and also am against exploitation of the powerless by the powerful, but at the same time am fine with low stakes gambling by people who can do that without problems. But getting to good policy from those principles is not easy.

(337 posts)I have NEVER understood why Las Vegas has a US monopoly over sports betting, other than lobbyists and corporations pulling the strings and protecting that advantage. And I still don't understand why it's that important to hold onto...what is a Vegas sportsbook's ROI compared to slots, table games etc? People don't get comps for big sports bets...
You do make a point I agree with...call it what it is...GAMBLING.
