Im so sick of one of nature's and perhaps God's most beautiful things being demonized. The fear mongering has got to stop! Mushrooms bring people together and closer to The Truth. This psychopath chose his scapegoat.

(15,689 posts)Then I guess his actions must be exempted from prosecution under the first amendment freedom to the free exercise of insane beliefs in angels, demonic possessions and whatnot. My client was trying to silence the devil, said James Fallman, of the defendant charged with cutting out the still beating heart of his associate.
[i[Jarrod Wyatt also cut out Taylor Powell's tongue and ripped off most of his face in a brutal assault that police said looked like a scene from a horror film, officers said.
They claim they found the 26-year-old standing naked over his friend's body with parts, including an eyeball, strewn around the blood splattered room in Klamath, California.
Bad? Certainly we can all agree that this constitutes bad behavior, but just imagine what the man under Diabolic possession must have been up to!

Whether it's 'natural' or not is irrelevant. It's a drug, and like most drugs it has the potential for some very serious and unwanted side effects. It's also possible they got the wrong kind of mushroom.

In my experience, Psilocybin causes most folks feel wonderful and laugh their asses off.
There is always the exception though, as you noted.

(36,827 posts)There are lots of possibilities. He could have gotten a massive dose without realizing it, it could be the wrong kind of mushroom, other drugs may have been involved, or he may have just been the rare type of person that gets a very bad trip from it.
From the description it almost certainly sounds like a drug induced psychosis. The question is what drug or drugs were involved.
