i posted this as a response in another thread, disagreeing w someone about whether the protest would win any allies, or whether it was just about getting attention-
seeing video and pics from the scene.
block or so long march had michigan ave closed down.
later pics show very few shoppers and stores being shut down.
i'd call it a win. without "firing a shot"
the people that they piss off are exactly the ones who should be pissed off. they dont give 2 shits for the lives of these children. dont give them a seconds thought.
tho they will be fuming today, they will have at least heard the cries. and can ignore them no more.
have to say that we have got their (angry) attention.
win.

(23,272 posts)who organized this do you know?
I saw Jesse Jackson (and Rainbow Push) prominently, as well as Father Pfleger but hoped to credit the correct organizers.

(23,272 posts)Jackson's Rainbow PUSH Coalition had organized the march, which brought together a variety of groups and community leaders. They had started at Michigan and Wacker. From there, Rev. Jackson had led several hundred people north on Michigan to the Water Tower, where several people were to speak.

(23,272 posts)Yeah I believe Fr Pfleger was instrumental in organizing the march - his "vibe" is all over this event even if he's not named as "the" organizer like Jesse is.

(70,225 posts)but this would be par for the course.
