I know he has a pretty hard tendency to lean RW. I asked him what he meant by 'process voter'. He explained it as he votes for the person who uses the best process to make his decisions, regardless of what their actual decisions and policies are. According to him, actual policies or deeds done makes no difference. That way he divorces the emotional from the practical. He's was a Ron Paul supporter, but is now an Rmoney guy.
This makes no sense to me AT ALL. That's the kind of nonsense we're up against, folks!

I was like that's still better than crushing the poor and it's a lot more Christian too...
They have to rationalize even more for voting for a pension theif

(1,986 posts)he may have actually meant to say "I'm a spineless, uneducated, brain washed, pawn of the republican party voter"

Has this co-worker taken classes in formal logic or rhetoric? If not, then he's just a right winger seeking to claok the brutality of his values with a patina of pseudo-scientific claptrap.
Here's a syllogism for him:
All Republicans are douchebags
I am a Republican.

(5,364 posts)It just doesn't sound like something that somebody would think up themselves because it makes absolutely no sense outside of maybe a mathematician's mind.
Like others already said, I believe he's just a Republican team player who is overplaying his hand in trying to seem to have a cerebral/rational reason for being so.

I've known faculty who are brilliant in their own speciality
areas, but totally lack empathy and common sense. I usually
find their too much trouble to bother with, but this kid 15 yrs
younger than me) was trying to figure out if MD was a blue
or red state so he knew what party to register for when he
moved.

Both use the same process. They start from different set of assumptions, so they naturally reach different conclusions.
