One of the groups concerned is the ACLU and as stated in the article: "Chief Deputy Randy McDaniel of the Montgomery County Sheriffs Office in Texas told The Daily that his department is considering using rubber bullets and tear gas on its drone."
This is not paranoia, this is very real. Weaponizing drones, even with "less than lethal" devices means less accountability should their use be abused (and lets face it, their use WILL be abused at some point). Pretty sure drones don't have badge numbers.
