Half of the time I read posts I don't know what the Hell you are talking about.
EDIT: To those of you who think I should call 911 and go straight to the looney bin ask yourself one question.
How many times have you had to leave to figure out what the new LETTER texts mean.

Remember those?
And have you ever wondered what a particular post means to the thread? Like telling everyone you are going out for ice cream under the OP: "Trump is #1 in the GOP primaries"
Then again, going out for ice cream would seem like the right thing to do at such a time.

I don't even scan the headlines of the tabloids at the check out counter, I'm that much of a society/culture idiot...
(I do confess to checking my horoscope in the tiny tabloid on the top row).

(12,647 posts)I don't expect to know every single acronym out there and it's a fairly simple process to find out what they are by using Google.

(37,748 posts)Another fairly simple process allows the writer to spell our full words.
The original purpose of acronyms was to allow the writer to express himself more clearly rather than to maintain laziness (yes, even in writing). The word (or words) were to spelled out completely when initially used, followed by an explanation for the use of its acronym about to begin, lasting throughout the remainder of the story or paper; thereby placing the burden of research on himself rather than the reader.

(12,647 posts)it would be difficult do get everyone to do what we wish, at all times. Personally, I try not to sweat the small stuff. Acronyms are just that in the grander scheme of things.
