Something that will not be debated this election

The amount of money spent on protecting us from terrorist attacks. Most of the economic loss from 9-11-01 was due to the shock of it being the first major attack on the US in the modern era. An attack similar in scope tomorrow would not have the same shock value and would not have the same economic impact. The amount of money being spent is not warranted by the the amount of money lost due to an attack.

But both candidates will say that American blood is oh, oh so precious and it doesn't matter how many billions, upon billions has to be spent to protect us, they will make sure all that money is flushed down the toilet.

It's just a matter of time until the fanatics about security pull some stunt so outrageous that they lose all face.

The fear can only be maintained until people just become sick and tired of the exaggerations.

Do we need to have security? Yes, we do.

Do we need to waste so much money and so many employees' time on providing it? No.
