So now the Repukes are the party of civil rights? WTF!

http://www.nationalreview.com/blogs/print/300432

The above article seems like a complete rewrite of history. There is no mention of Strom Thurmond, MLK or Kennedy. This revisionist fantasy has the repukes being the best friend of civil rights since reconstruction.

His evidence? It took a long time for civil rights.

I don't know whether to be insulted or laugh my ass off.

There was a time when each party had its share of liberals and conservatives. But for ultra conservative nuts like the shitstain that goes by the name of Jonah Goldberg to take credit for what liberals accomplished is a laugh riot.

I was curious about that. Now I don't have to give the NR a click. I am not surprised that The Doughy Pantload would make such claims. He's the same jackass who wrote a booked titled "Liberal Fascism", not understanding that one cannot be both liberal and fascist, as they are at opposite ends of the political spectrum.

He formed a third political party after Truman desegregated the military when he ran for president. He turned repuke in 1964. That's what the writer chose not to include.

It was the Civil Rights Act that turned the tide and sent many of the "Dixiecrats" scurrying over to the Republicans. As LBJ said when he signed the act, the Democrats would lose the South for a generation. That was the point of Richard Nixon's "southern strategy," scooping up the racists that no longer felt they had a home in the Democratic Party.

The Civil Rights Act did get help from a good number of Republicans. On the other hand, present day right wingers are laughable when they try to claim the mantle of civil rights activists.

The sky is blue. The sea is green. Republicans lie.

I wouldn't be too surprised if they claimed to be responsible for the sun rising every morning. Republicans claim things. Those claims generally have no relationship with reality, in fact they're often the exact opposite of reality, but they make them regardless.
