I thought Dems and Progressives prided themselves in examining situations from all angles and seeing the world in shades of gray.

(45,120 posts)but when it come to my Democratic values there is no shade of gray. There is either black or white. Mine are white and conservatives are black, and I don't want them fucking mixed to make gray.

(24,331 posts)It's that not everything IS black and white. And when you declare your position white and anything else black, you're effectively saying that you alone have the Truth, subject to no other interpretation, facts, circumstances, that your ruling is absolute, and making no allowance for being wrong. It becomes a religion.

(10,942 posts)Democrats must fight fire with fire. I typically agree with your point of view, both of us are from the moderate wing of the party. But you are wrong on this issue. When someone punches you in the face, you throw punches back. Turning one's cheek to modern republicans after they have punched you in the face will lead to a steelpipe up side one's head. There is no equivalence between what republicans are doing and democrats fighting back.

(45,120 posts)Democratic values versus conservative values. As far as I am concerned there is a big difference, and I don't want my Democratic values grayed down. If that make it my religion then it's my religion. As I said, the world and people can be shade of gray, but there is right and there is wrong. My Democratic values are right.
