The lessons are very clear, Cory.
First, the issue of Bain is relevant because Romney is basing his quest for the presidency on his record of job creation.
So President Obama has not just a right but a duty to examine Romney's record. And that's just what President Obama and his team are doing in those ads.
And the numbers say it all. Look at how many jobs were ELIMINATED during his tenure at Bain.
Romney is a job destroyer.
Learn it. Repeat it. Again and again.
Either we define Romney, or he defines himself.
-- If Americans think "job creator" when they hear the name Romney, then Obama --and we -- lose.
-- If Americans think "job destroyer" when they hear the name Romney, then Obama --and we --win.

So forget Cory Booker!
NO RETREAT!
To President Obama and ALL Democrats. We don't just stay with the campaign theme, but we INTENSIFY it!
Keep telling the American people the numbers of jobs destroyed by Romney and Bain, in ad after ad after ad after ad after ad after ad after ad. Keep letting those who were hurt by Romney and Bain tell their story, in ad after ad after ad after ad after ad after ad after ad after ad.
Today, tomorrow, and everyday from now until November!
FORWARD!

(13,270 posts)between evoking Reverend Wright and discussing the candidate's record as a businessman. That "both sides do it" thing. Stupidest thing in the world. If Booker doesn't want to go all in for Obama, that's fine. It's his right. He's got to make that calculation for himself. But to use this stupid equivalency meme is ridiculous.

(17,199 posts)I hope it's just the opposite.
I hope we keep hitting Romney harder and harder on the issue of Bain, the job losses, etc.
I hope President Obama not only keeps up the line of attack, but intensifies it.
I hope ALL Democrats keep up the line of attack.
Just keep showing the people who were hurt by Romney and Bain.
Let the people who were hurt tell their stories. In ad after ad after ad after ad after ad! Today, tomorrow, and everyday, from now until November!
Forget Cory Booker.
NO RETREAT!
Don't just stay with the campaign theme. Go harder!
FORWARD!

(10,942 posts)Romney has been running around claiming job creation and slamming Obama for not growing jobs fast after Obama inherited a depression. Booker is a blind jackass for not recognizing that Romney must be confronted hard over Romney's lies and claims about jobs. Obama must get rid of Booker as a surrogate, Booker is not up to that job.

Bain and Financial Industry Gave Over $565,000 To Newark Mayor Cory Booker For 2002 Campaign
By Josh Israel on May 21, 2012
A ThinkProgress examination of New Jersey campaign finance records for Bookers first run for Mayor back in 2002 suggests a possible reason for his unease with attacks on Bain Capital and venture capital. They were among his earliest and most generous backers.
Contributions to his 2002 campaign from venture capitalists, investors, and big Wall Street bankers brought him more than $115,000 for his 2002 campaign. Among those contributing to his campaign were John Connaughton ($2,000), Steve Pagliuca ($2,200), Jonathan Lavine ($1,000) all of Bain Capital. While the forms are not totally clear, it appears the campaign raised less than $800,000 total, making this a significant percentage.
He and his slate also jointly raised funds for the Booker Team for Newark joint committee. They received more than $450,000 for the 2002 campaign from the sector including a pair of $15,400 contributions from Bain Capital Managing Directors Joshua Bekenstein and Mark Nunnelly. It appears that for the initial campaign and runoff, the slate raised less than $4 million again making this a sizable chunk.

We can easily counter Romney's use of Cory Booker's statement with ads showilng Republicans attacking Romney on his job destroying tenure at Bain:
Bain Capital: 9 toughest attacks
1.
Mitt Romney and Bain Capital were involved with what I call vulture capitalism. Texas GOV. RICK PERRY, Jan. 10, 2012
2. Those of us who believe in free markets and those of us who believe that in fact the whole goal of investment is entrepreneurship and job creation, we find it pretty hard to justify rich people figuring out clever legal ways to loot a company, leaving behind 1,700 families without a job. NEWT GINGRICH, Jan. 8, 2012
7. Mitt Romney hasnt been vetted on Bain. I dont think David Axelrod and the Occupy movement are going to give him a pass on this. Hes been running for six years. How much do we know about his 20 years at Bain? former Gingrich aide Rick Tyler, Jan. 9, 2012

Hey Ed, Bain is fair game.
And haven't we learned anything from the GOP approach?
It's stay on message! Focus! Theme!
Label the opponent! Brand him or her!
