John Bolton wants a war and he wants it now.......

Warning of danger lurking in nearly every corner of the world, former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton offered a grim view on Friday of foreign relations in a speech at the Duquesne Club, Downtown.

An increasingly "belligerent" China, the authoritarian Vladimir Putin in Russia, a stumbling ballistic missile program in North Korea and an Iranian nuclear program threaten U.S. interests, Bolton told about 90 people attending the $50-a-plate luncheon in the Walnut Room sponsored by St. Vincent College and the America's Future Foundation, a conservative/libertarian advocacy group.

.....(snip).....

Bolton told the Tribune-Review on Monday that he would prefer going to war with Iran, which he considers the only way to prevent Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. If Iran gets nuclear weapons even though the past two American presidents vowed to prevent it, anti-American groups in the region will see it as the United States being "either unable or unwilling to stop it."

Bolton, a foreign policy advisor to presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, criticized President Obama for withdrawing combat troops from Iraq at the end of 2011, though the withdrawal timeline was negotiated with the Iraqi government in 2008, and agreed to by Bolton's former boss, President George W. Bush. ..................(more)

No, Mr. Bolton. Not going to war with those countries may threaten the interests of the big corporations who want to get richer but those countries are not threatening "U.S. interests". What IS threatening OUR interests is unemployment, outsourcing, lack of affordable health care for all, never ending WAR, quality and affordable education for all who want it, a failing infrastructure, cuts to social service/SS/Medicare/Medicaid, fracking, etc.

Although who comprises the United States of America and what their interests are may differ for you and me.

Your war will begin at the Hague, at the International Palace of Peace as a war criminal along with Bush, Cheney and the rest of the administration.

Your sentence will be forever and a day. No-one gives a shit on what Bolton has to say.

normal society for all of our sakes by now?

But if he wants a war, I hope he's planning to sign up to be on the front lines along with any kids he may have.

These chickenhawks are laughable, and in a sane society their ramblings would never the pages of a decent publication, unless it was on the funny pages. The fact that he is treated with any kind of respect, shows how far gone we are.

Wiki: "Bolton supported the Vietnam War and enlisted in the Maryland Army National Guard, but did not serve in Vietnam. He wrote in his Yale 25th reunion book "I confess I had no desire to die in a Southeast Asian rice paddy. I considered the war in Vietnam already lost." In an interview, Bolton discussed his comment in the reunion book, explaining that he decided to avoid service in Vietnam because "by the time I was about to graduate in 1970, it was clear to me that opponents of the Vietnam War had made it certain we could not prevail, and that I had no great interest in going there to have Teddy Kennedy give it back to the people I might die to take it away from".

So, he graduated in '70 - 5 years before the war ended! He was apparently psychic, too.
