What makes you think that?
He is making all of us "Real Americans", act the fool, one and all.

Obama promised transparency and an end to divisive politics. Both of those core claims can be disputed, ad infinitum, simply by doing so loudly. Thus Bernie Goldberg.
Hint: Attempts at advances or fairness in culture or economics, DIVISIVE. Presidenting while BLACK, DIVISIVE.
Hint: Refusal to answer the same questions put to rest, to the delight of the Birthers{simply tools}, obscure/obtuse.
I almost think Obama made those claims as bait. To lull Wingers into going after fluff, with HATEFUL tone.
They indeed sound, as an institution, deranged.

Obama is a very intelligent man. He knows this.

(13,390 posts)Obama's 2004 DNC speech was all about coming together and "we are not as divided as our politics suggest."
Inclusiveness is what attracted independents to Obama. Rs are trying to turn his strength against him by claiming he's as divisive as Kerry was unpatriotic, and his "failed" foreign policy as bad as Bushs' was good.
Obama is smart to not play their game. He lets his success accumulate and stand on it's own.

(21,925 posts)At one of the Republican debates, the candidates were asked if they would accept a deal where they could get 90% of what they wnted but it would include a tax hike. Not one GOPer raised his hand as being in favor of such a deal. The "my way or the highway' TeaTalitarians can't lecture anyone on divisiveness.

(44,173 posts)Lincoln and FDR were also divisive polarizing figures.
If you are going to get big things, good things done then yes it is going to be divisive and rub some people the wrong way.
Obama being called divisive can be taken as a sign that he is doing things right.

(3,690 posts)come election day. And it will slowly dawn on many, that Obama derangement syndrom, is part racism, part return to the 50's, part scared shitless of any change. In fact, no change, and back if possible, is their slogan.
I can hardly wait, to see the bloodbath, when the wingers say, further still right would have won it. And the rinos become not republicans as they are just as hated as we are.
