These images should be required viewing for all cops

I have said this lots of times. I am generally a supporter of the cops and beleive most of them to be decent people trying to do the right thing. That said, there are clearly problems with some in their ranks.

These images of one of their own, scared and under indictment for the murder of yet another unarmed black man, are moving. You can see the fear on Tensing's face. The impact of him, in court, a phalanx of other cops in view, with him in stripes and handcuffs, is powerful.

To decent cops, this is an object lesson to remain decent.

To the problem cops, let it be an effective warning or, maybe better yet, a hint to find a line of work less tempting to their propensity for gunplay and rights trampling.

1. The pervasive thin blue line issue has to be addressed.

We have to make it FAR more expensive for a cop to lie to protect another cop than the retribution he or she risks.

3. I think I heard a grand jury declined to press charges against the other two cops who were there

when Tensing was murdering his victim.
