anyone having issues with the win 10 update?

This is not political, but since many of the DU audience will be doing it, I am trying to get information. I realize there is a lot that could be said about the political end of this, but right now I am just seeking info on how the update is going (aka anything I should watch out for as I do it.)

I connected up my external hard drive and backed up the files on this laptop (didn't take too long, as this is a pretty new laptop)

Started the Win 10 download - got it going pretty well, then went to bed. Woke up and it was all done - signed in and everything works the same - slightly different look and feel, but it is pretty nice looking.

So, though I am no great fan of Microsoft, no complaints on day 1 of Win 10 (after a happy run with Win 7)

She's been very quiet for the last 3 hours. My laptop has yet to update.

I kid. I've actually got it in a virtual machine on Linux and it's mostly doing well. My Visual Studio has some problems compiling things on it, but there's probably a VS update for the new libraries I haven't installed yet. All the other programs seem to do fine, and I think it's a better desktop setup than 8 was, and works better on a non-touchscreen than 8 does.

But my husband (who signed up after I did) got his immediately and set his laptop to do the upgrade tonight while he was out playing bridge.

He got back about an hour ago and I haven't heard anything from him.

I think my notification may wait a bit - I have dual monitors on a nVidia video card and I've heard there have been some problems with that set up. I hope Microsoft gets it right.

I may spend time tomorrow doing a back up in preparation for whenever I do get my notification.

It is working okay...the EDGE browser is pretty fast. However, it is also quirky. I cannot help feeling like all software, this was rushed out of the kitchen a bit too quick. All the same, it is less than half the headache windows 8.1 was.

Maybe at the end of September. My concern is possible bugs they may need to work out.

Since I upgraded to Windows 10, my Flash has been slllooooow and laggy. It's no longer fun to play Pogo or Facebook games, especially in Firefox. Flash games in Edge are a little bit better, but still slow and laggy.

went to the download page, got the download tool, downloaded Windows 10 to a flash drive (you need about 3GB space) then opened the set up file and let it go. All told, it took about two hours between the download and the install. You don't have to wait until the update is pushed to your computer. It's a little gimmicky. Not really an amazing upgrade. It looks ok and its easy enough to work with.

Had to reinstall drivers and find patches for most of his critical software. It isn't a seamless transition unless you run a very stripped down computer.

I've had the update offer for a while, but my laptop runs slow on 7. Probably won't get Win10 until I get a new laptop.
