The notion of an accident

So I drive into our yard - the same as always, swear I've put the car in reverse to park in the same place I've parked for decades until I hit a concrete wall. I've never ever come close to that wall. Looks like I was still in drive and pressed the gas thinking I was reversing. HTF did that happen - don't ask me. Physics rules so I now need a new front bumper, a brand new left light and to remove a small dent above the left wheel.

I've been really busy helping one of my dearest friends organize her husband's funeral and really didn't think I was stressed out. Today I did an airport trip, got involved in a few meetings and picked up some stuff down town - all on time.

I have a no claim bonus -this is a first but I am still trying to find out how I did this. Everyone is saying better in the yard than on the road.
I think I'll have a glass of wine and laugh at myself. I now understand the meaning of shit happens.

2. Stress. Stress. Stress. This is what gets us, keeps us from being in the place we're

in, even when we've been there for decades. I learned that the hard way when I backed into a friend's beautiful new truck in my own driveway while pulling out to go visit my mother in the hospital and my father in the dementia unit.

The worst stress is the stress we're not aware of.

That wine and that laugh sounds like just what the doctor ordered.

I've decided to laugh it off - but you're right - the stress we're not aware we're facing is the worst stress.

last fall. Could Not Believe It! Then I thought - damn. Scratched the paint up there! Until I got to my daughter's house and she came out to greet me with: "Holy crap, Dad. What happened to the car?"
It just all seemed impossible. I consider myself a good driver...but - shit happened.
A notion indeed.

just a scratch and then.... When metal meets concrete - physics takes over. I can't imagine the damage if I was going at 10mph.

Besides, my 13-year-old daughter is in a phase where she calls everyone, even her mom "man." It's rubbing off.... argh!

Obviously, you are not a born clutz, or you would be used to these sorts of mishaps by now.

WTF just happened? happens to all of us at least once in our lives, because we are human and not infallible.
