General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWhile we are doing appreciation threads, how about one for Kentuck?
Kentuck was one of the few DUers when I first arrived here, who made sense to me. So I have followed his posts for more than a decade now. I don't always agree with him, but whatever he said was intelligent, well thought out and well written. I will truly miss Kentuck.

(102,491 posts)He's a thoughtful poster and a very valued long term member of DU.
I hope his estrangement is very temporary. Go for the R&R, kentuck, but then please come back!

(62,325 posts)what is really going on w/Kentuck and WP but just wanted to be sure that no good DUer is mocked in an OP here so wanted to make sure that any appreciation thread was sincere.
Thank you for this thread.

(47,803 posts)Always been a level headed poster. Has opinions, but did not generally get into the bombast and hostility that so many of us are prone to.
So it's perplexing.

(75,480 posts)Don't you leave either. You are one of the foundation rocks of this place along with Kentuck and Will Pitt.
I often leave, but just quietly disappear when I do.
...And inevitably come back at some point.

(33,688 posts)Kentuck is a sage and sober voice of reason. Too bad the sniveling shits that drive away people like him and Will aren't the ones who leave. They would not be missed.

(5,128 posts)Actually did consider joining in solidarity.
DU has issues these days. Jury system running amok and a number of just mean posters attacking some of the best and brightest of DU.
This is going to be far uglier than prior years primary seasons I fear.

Thank you, Cleita! That's what a real Democrat does.

(17,997 posts)One would think that with so many excellent DUAers leaving or already gone, with so much discourse, and the number of posts dwindling, something might be done to try and stop it.

(17,320 posts)Personally, I am finding it to be increasingly difficult to participate in a constructive, honest dialogue in search of political truths.
Rather, too many people seem hell bent on asserting their narcissistic attacks upon anyone who sets forth ideas. Instead of searching of right answers, the "egoists" try to achieve psychological ascendency over other posters.

(46,585 posts)As much as we butt heads here, I still am very fond of most people. Over the 10 years I've been here, my politics have made a 180 and as a result I've lost and made friends. It's too bad our discourse gets so heated, there's no coming back from it, or so it seems. I just wish people wouldn't take stuff personally. I miss many of those that have departed, voluntarily or otherwise.
So, cheers to Kentuck.
