(9,426 posts)What a shame we have come to this. People lost loved ones, for what exactly? The USA has become a laughingstock between the rampant shootings, and the unhinged gop politicians. What I can not understand is WHY people go ito theaters, shopping malles, churches and shoot innocent people. When will they wake up and realise who is causing the REAL problems, and go after politicians? It would only take one shooting, and the laws would be changed, pronto. Since it does not affect them, with their tight security, who cares?

(14,178 posts)You are probably correct. But only if it hits those in the GOP. Gabby Giffords shooting did nothing as she was a Democrat.
When Republicans are shot...ie. Brady who was shot in the attempt against President Reagan, suddenly at least one or two will have a lightbulb go off.

(41,212 posts)If the near-death experience of St Ronnie did not change the laws, nothing of that nature will.
And many of these nutters are government-haters, who would love to go after many politicians- they shot Gabby Giffords, and the only reason that President Obama (that Kenyan Muslim Socialist who wants to grab your guns) has not been murdered is that he has very good security. I always thought that McCain was perhaps lucky to be defeated, as some RW terrorist might have decided to engineer Palin's accession to the White House.
