A farewell to Bob

Bob seems to be dead, a body having been found in a sports utility vehicle parked on Palisades Drive in Pacific Palisades. Bob might not be his real name. But his neighbors knew him as “Bob” and we should go with that, since it's how he wanted to be known. We're also not sure yet the body is Bob's because the coroner is still working to obtain dental and medical records. Fingerprints are not available because could-be-Bob decomposed somewhat between July 4 (when he was reportedly left dead in a parked car) and July 17 when he was found by police. But somebody is dead, and it's very possible that somebody could be Bob

When, to her shock, she discovered Bob's body in the car in mid-July, keen-eyed citizen Catherine Nebron dutifully informed authorities. Nebron, who seems to have been Bob's wife or fiancée, says she had parked the vehicle containing Bob's remains there about two weeks earlier, then took a trip to Oregon with 39-year-old Dawn VadBunker. On returning from Oregon, Nebron was stunned to see Lash's body where she had previously left it and quickly contacted well-known local defense lawyer Harland Braun. Together they called police

Braun says Nebron thought Bob was an undercover government operative. Bob allegedly gave Nebron specific instructions that in an emergency she was not to notify authorities but should leave his body in the car and skip town. A doctor who did not want to be named reportedly spent an house and a half trying unsuccessfully to save Bob

Dawn Vadbunker managed several properties owned by Nebron. She was reported missing shortly after Bob's death. According to her adoptive mother, VadBunker believed Bob was "half-alien, half-man" who was “sent to Earth to protect us”. VadBunker has not returned from Oregon yet

Bob's hobbies included hoarding new guns (about 1200), ammunition (about 6 1/2 tons), cash ($230,000), and vehicles (14). Bob and Nebron usually ate at the Casa Nostra restaurant.

a DU link to a story about the shooting in Louisiana. It was a UPI article.

At the bottom of the article page, there was a link to another UPI article - this one about the story of the "half-alien, half-man" and his very odd girl-friend. Bemused by the title, I read the article . . . shaking my head at the bizarre things that happen (and feeling sorry for the people who had to remove Bob's sunbaked, bloated corpse from the car).

At the bottom of that article (still UPI) was another link. This one to a story about spitting armadillos spreading leprosy in Florida.

At that point, I had to double-check and make sure I hadn't inadvertently landed on the National Enquirer website . . . but no, it was still UPI.

Reality is officially weirder than fiction now.

Your informative and comprehensive post should be required reading in J-schools across the planet.

(Except, of course, for the doctor spending a "house and a half" trying to save him - pricey treatment, that...)

and think of the doctor in an ambulance speeding past residential houses. He could have spend a house and a half that way. I'm sure that's not long though, because those ambulances go pretty fast.

They should rename the road "Bob's Rd" in honor of...Bob.

Unless he really is an Alien in which case, Frank.
