swallow large amounts of Marijuana without water
smoke pot in a TX jail and to be checked on every hour

****the first time I heard it the reporter made it sound like she swallowed it when being pulled over but text links I found all say she had swallowed in the recent past so it could have been heated in bakery etc , then consumed and very effective

(8,760 posts)It would be so easy to add marijuana to the food that you serve in the jail.

(5,208 posts)For certain that any food laced with marijuana has a certain taste and smell. I was shocked when I first had a pot brownie. It does not taste like a normal brownie at all.

(47,209 posts)Very low for a few hours. Some people use crock pots. Then you finely strain / squeeze it out it into a heat proof bowl and put it in the fridge. (And run more boiling water over the strainer to get all the butter out)
A solid lid of butter will form on top overnight. You can use very cold water to rinse the bottom, but the little amount there won't matter. The butter should be very green, and the water will stink and be very murky and useless- discard. There is a slight taste alteration to the butter- but not the typical one and no smell.
The great thing is you can make it quite strong and dilute it and or freeze some for later too.
For brownies, I think using coffee or espresso as your liquid and some extra cocoa(directly to the butter) helps make them extra special.
You're welcome! Let me know how it works for you!

(14,552 posts)she even have access to it in a jail cell? They placed her in a cell by herself. The only people that had access to her were the cops.
There are so many easily provable lies coming from the police.

But that's really irrelevant.

(13,081 posts)Accurate enough to tell the difference between whether one consumed that day or three days prior. That's why, for instance, the NFL changed the testing cutoff from 15 nngms to 150, to differentiate between players who'd consumed the day before from the players who consumed before the game (more and more sports associations are recognizing marijuana as a performance enhancer).

(14,912 posts)can be detected for up to 30 days, depending on your metabolism. A daily smoker who smokes 3 or 4 joints per day can take **months** to get clean. I know this from personal experience, and it was explained to me by a doctor. I was referred to pain management in 2004, after 2 major neck surgeries from an accident that left me disabled. Before my accident, and subsequent surgeries, I wouldn't even take an aspirin for a headache because I hated taking pills of *any* kind.
The doctor prescribed me Oxycodone 10/325s... 10 milligrams of oxycodone combined with 325 milligrams of acetaminophen. Within 30 minutes uf taking the pill, I was passed out on the couch, in the chair, etc. I didn't like that, so I just put the bottle away in a drawer and would only take one every once in a great while, like when I couldn't sleep due to pain, and had been up for 2 or 3 days. **NOTE**: I was injured on 9/5/03, and waited a little over a year to have surgery as I was still able to walk, and they only gave me 40% chance of not coming out of surgery paralyzed from the neck down. The pain got so bad that I finally told my Neurosurgeon "Go ahead and operate because at this point, I think paralysis would be preferable to the pain".
I had my first surgery on Sept 21st, 04 and spent 8 days in the hospital. Upon release, I was given 120 oxy 10/325s again. That's 4 per day! Every time I woke up, my wife was shoving another pill on me as I was in a lot of pain from a botched operation. I was given another refill at the end of October, and scheduled for the 2nd surgery around the middle of Nov. 04. I spent 9 days in the hospital then, getting released 2 days before Thanksgiving, with 120 more oxys. This time, I weaned myself off of the pills in 2 weeks, and started smoking pot for pain relief even though it wasn't legal in my state. On my first follow-up visit, the doctor asked if I needed more pain pills and I told him "No, I have found a more "natural" pain reliever, and I can actually function on it." He smiled knowingly and said "This is off the record, but marijuana is the best pain reliever known to man. I have no problem with you smoking it".
Fast forward to 2010.. I decided to try pain management, as I was spending close to $400/mo on pot and thought "here I am with this insurance and prescriptions only cost me $1.10/ea, I can get a months supply of pain meds and save a BUNCH of money!" I quit smoking for a little over a month, made an appointment, and still tested positive for THC. This went on for 4 months! That's when the doctor explained that the THC stores in your fat cells. It comes out in your sweat, and if it isn't washed off immediately, it reabsorbs into your body, making the levels higher, like you have just recently smoked. I told him that I *knew* that I hadn't been smoking, but had been sweating, and trying to lose weight. He said that explained a lot, and finally wrote me a prescription for some real pain meds instead of Tramadol.
They *could* have found the marijuana in the fat cells of her liver or other organs. I hope this helps you, or anyone else, understand how THC can be detected...

(31,464 posts)I had vocal cord surgery several years ago. The doctors said I was not to talk or utter a sound for about a week. I certainly couldn't smoke, but I ate a couple of buds. It's a delayed reaction, not like smoking, but it sure as heck does the job!

(4,959 posts)or how much someone consumed. Not with any accuracy.
This makes no sense. Unless they somehow think there is still marijuana in her stomach or intestines, what the hell would further testing prove?
And what the hell does it matter anyway, except make them look bad for letting pot into their shitty ass jail to begin with? It has nothing to do with her death, be it murder or suicide or anything else.
What the fuck.

(4,959 posts)That they'd go to the extent of requesting the family return her body to Texas so they can re-test it though, that's particularly ghastly.
But yeah, these fuckers have a great way of turning the victim into the 'suspect' during these events. Sick, sick shit. As though, if the victim had a colorful past, the cops therefore are justified in acting as judge, jury and executioner.

(38,021 posts)I think the more relevant part of the article lies here:
The jail where Bland died was cited three days after her death by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards for failing to complete visual face-to-face observations of inmates every 60 minutes as required by state regulations.
It was also cited for failing to produce written records to prove that jail staff had undergone required yearly training in the recognition, supervision, documentation and handling of inmates who are mentally disabled or potentially suicidal.
The jail also failed an inspection in November 2012 for failing to complete hourly observations after an inmate's suicide, state records show.
That jail had someone commit suicide just three years previous and still failed to take proper precautions to prevent another one - if indeed, Ms. Bland actually did commit suicide.
Gross Negligence at a minimum.

(51,076 posts)I eat about a quarter ounce of Cambodian weed and was still higher than a kit when I got to Alaska 24 hours later. No cooking, just put it in my mouth and chewed and chewed until I had it all chewed up and swallowed it with a good dose of water and about thirty minutes later I was wondering if maybe I over did it.

(34,139 posts)It's far too easy to take much more and end up much higher than you expect. I had two times when I got too high with pot - once I made granola with it and snuck it into a theater to watch some Japanese Godzilla movie. To this day I have flashbacks when watching any of those old movies!
Another time I made pot brownies. I swear I only ate one but I was so high that the next day I got so sick and dizzy I was throwing up. I haven't taken marijuana orally since then.

(73,668 posts)It does not require baking, etc.
I once debated a friend about this very topic. He insisted pot had to be cooked or baked in order for the consumer to get high. I asked him if he had ever ate a gram of hash? [Note: I already knew the answer to my question.]
There are ways to slowly cook pot in butter, in order to get its desired properties for baking, without having the bulk of the plant in, say, a brownie mix. Lots and lots of clever ways to prepare it in food.
However, from my college days, I know that if one eats a gram of hash and drinks a half-pint of tequila for breakfast, that day will be a learning experience.

(854 posts)The Alpha-THC hasn't yet been converted into good old delta-9, which takes time and gentle heat. In addition, you usually need to extract the cannabinoids into a lipid (oil, fat, alcohol) in order to get high while consuming it. This is the same reason you can't brew marijuana "tea" with hot water -- you will just waste your bud.
I've written cannabis cookbooks & extraction instructional manuals for the Colorado industry -- there is a lot of misunderstanding around edibles, how they work, and how your body processes the cannabis. It seems the lying killers in Texas have been tripped u trying to use reefer madness as an excuse for murder.
elias49
(4,259 posts)but, no. You don't get high eating raw weed. And it stays - measurable - in your system for close to a month. This from daily smoking. Which is why people applying for jobs that drug-test stop a few weeks before they apply/get blood tested.
Of course none of this should be relavant to the death/murder of Sharon Bland.

(7,318 posts)on the police report he filed. Trooper Encinia did not disclose, on the police report he filed, the fact that he had placed her under arrest while she was in her car. And the video shows Trooper Encinia also lied verbally to his supervisor. I don't know why he hasn't been fired already.
ETA: Trooper Encinia probably lied because, if he had sworn out a warrant for resisting arrest he would have had to divulge the facts of what happened in her car. It would have then been clear to his superior that he ordered her out of the car without having any reasonable fear for his safety (an element lawyers say is necessary for police ordering someone out of their car per the decision of the Supreme Court).
Sandra Bland had an excellent false arrest case. She knew it, he knew it and she let him know she knew it. His career and reputation were in serious jeopardy. If evidence is ever found to support a murder charge, Encinia who had motive and likely opportunity, sure looks good for it.
