While none of the GOP candidates would make a good president, which one really frightens you if they were to become president in terms of what damage they would do to the country and to progressive causes.
For me it is Scott Walker. Subjectively I think he looks like a weasel. But when he opens his mouth he really scares me. His positions on all issues are very far right wing. What worries me the most is that unlike Trump or Cruz who are very bombastic in their style; Walker, like Reagan, puts what seems to many in the middle a reasonable face on these extremist views.

(14,733 posts)They'd all be disasters as Presidents, but most of the field are obvious clowns who have no chance in a general. Bush is probably only dangerous if Hillary wins the Dem primary, because a 'Bush v Clinton' election is the surest way possible to depress voter turnout, and depressed turnout always favours Republicans.

it is in some ways akin to someone paying into an annuity, then when they collect having the company say 'sorry, we'd discovered it's more economical to not pay out'
I support Sanders because I do believe 'it's all about the money', a belief I have in common with the Kochs
the true line of scrimmage in this race is bernie vs scott, in terms of what's really going on
the 2nd, would be Bush, because his winning would arguably be the open formalization of deep elite stranglehold

(28,017 posts)He is sneaker, smarter, and smarter than that Walker character. Walker will self destruct. There is only so long that he can hide so much ignorance and bullshit.

(1,469 posts)what does that say, if we have one immediate family for 28 out of 44 years as either president or vp?

(58,785 posts)And, of course, the Kochs like him. I wish those conservatives drawn to libertarianism understood that libertarian government is inherently unstable and that evolution to full-blown fascism is a very real outcome. They all know they hate fascism, even those who don't actually know what it is.
Cruz isn't doing well this election, but in future this "God's Anointed One" could be my #1. He's young, extremely ambitious and ruthless, very talented and charismatic, and amoral. He is willing to destroy to gain power. He isn't going away and will learn from his mistakes.

I think both Christie and Walker have the same issues, both governors economy in their home state has tanked. Is that the kind of President that they would to be?

(43,227 posts)Someone like Walker could at least be countered politically.
Trump is clueless, reckless and a giant ego.
He'd be the Nero of US History.
In terms of a formidable political opponent, Rubio. He's young and can play off his Hispanic background which might gain traction from Independents who would see him as a fresh face. Regardless of his cluelessness in politics.

(27,315 posts)Pathetic to see that people who claim they oppose big businesses are falling for a mogul who will say anything to be elected. As if Trump was not the perfect example of who they despise.
After him, it is Walker (Rubio will not be elected by those racists).
