Democratic President Barack Obama should, for once, lead from behind and follow the example of British Prime Minster David Cameron in calling a spade a spade by explicitly identifying radical Islam as the enemy of the United States, Gov. Bobby Jindal says in an opinion piece published by Conservative Review.
Obamas failure to invoke the phrase endangers U.S. security, Jindal wrote. Obama has said he avoids associating jihadist terrorists with Islam because he doesnt want to confer religious legitimacy on them.
The charge is nothing new for Jindal. Nor is his call in the piece for the nation to close its borders to would-be immigrants who refuse to embrace American values.
Conservative Review is a right-leaning media outlet that tabulates ideological scorecards on members of Congress and presidential candidates including Jindal, who is seeking the 2016 Republican nomination to the White House.

For a Rhodes scholar Piyush is showing that he must be deaf to the racial overtones of that phrase. His Hindu background might also factor into his anti-Muslim sentiment.

(2,707 posts)on this one, I think Obama does have rose-coloured glasses with regard to Islamist radicalism, I'm sorry. No one is saying he needs to start wars like Bush, but there clearly is a problem in the Muslim world and among Muslims. It ought to be acknowledged.
To the progressives who apologize for Islam more than Christianity or other religion, how's women's reproductive and general rights in Muslim-majority countries compared to the rest? Gay rights?

(29,322 posts)Personally I think he should be far more specific ideology wise because radical Islam is far too generic & also more honest while also not ignoring the human rights violations of others involved in whatever conflict but in any case what difference does it make what he says? It has no effect one way or the other as to what the Department of Defense plans or operations are and for some reason I don't see why they'd be so unhappy in that area.
