I want to scream when I hear about something new going up there. One of them, there's a movie theater
complex there, and I don't like to go to that theater simply because it takes forever to get out.

There ought to be some kind of ordinance....or something.

(5,946 posts)it stuffs the road full of people for a short time for foot ball or a concert and the rest of the time sits there empty a blight on the landscape. What is worse, is my taxes paid for it even though I voted no - I have no idea why anyong thinks these things are wonderful things, just a burden on the not rich for the rich to play there. I certainly can not afford the 5 or 6 digit priced tickets, or the hundreds that smaller concerts demand for not great tickets. But had trouble coming home from work due to the traffic oan can visit friends to the east or go shopping in that direction or even in a favorite restaurant that way. The one road cuts through a protected estuary, so there are not a lot of roads as alternates.

(26,549 posts)My city is currently having a battle over it. The main result is a slight increase in allowable density in place that are already pretty dense. So you can build a 5-story building where you can currently build a 3-story building.
And it's getting massive resistance. But the end result of not doing it is the situation you describe - a few long, crowded and congested streets where everything has to be, because it's the only place they can be built.
