It has come to me in the last three days, that all this crying, whining and threats concerning #Black Lives Matter and POC saying to a couple of our "ally" candidates that this time it won't be "business as usual" is the usual "business as usual" response(s) heard for generations by POC from "allies" in the liberal/progressive movement/party.
The privileged people screaming in DU forums about POC alienating allies are only showing me that white privilege and, so far, the majority numbers of people on the receiving end of that privilege are, as usual and as it has been for generations, lacking in a true and heartfelt understanding of the visceral fear that POC have when faced with walking out our door each and every day.
I have read and heard so much privileged intellectualizing on the issue of black anger and "alienating allies" blather, blabber, blah, in the last three days as to literally sicken me. I have heard the same for years, over a generation now, and white privilege and the fear of losing that privilege has meant nothing being done, by the large numbers in that privileged group, that could really help end this ongoing threat to black lives in this society. NOTHING.
Voting rights for hundreds of thousand have been lost, civil and human rights are being lost, unarmed black lives, citizens, children, women and men are being violently ended and the intellectualizing continues or the cop apologists come trotting out into the DU forums with "what about the waist band reaching", "what about drug use", "what about his/her record" or he/she was "combative", not a "model prisoner". "She/he wasn't compliant enough". All "business as usual" apologies for cops killing unarmed black people, even here in the liberal progressive forums of DU
Now in answer to all that BS blather, I ask, when are enough white people going to stop alienating and insulating themselves from the danger(s) and pain being suffered in the black community because of racial, social and economic injustice? When will you stop insulating yourselves from the murders/executions of POC, children, women men and stop intellectualizing away the reasons for those murders and stand up in enough numbers that say to the racist so that they must hear, "this is wrong and must end". I simply ask, when will #Black Lives Matter?
