A Palm Beach County man serving a life sentence for selling two ounces of crack cocaine was one of 46 people whose federal prison terms were commuted Monday by President Barack Obama..
"President Obama just granted clemency to 46 men and women whose sentences didn't fit their crimes. Nearly all of these individuals would have already served their time and returned to society if they were convicted of the exact same crime today," the White House wrote in a tweet.
Mark Anthony Jones, 53, of Boynton Beach, has been locked up for more than 16 years for distribution of crack cocaine in the federal Northern District of Florida. He is now scheduled for release on Nov. 10, according to a White House news release.
A federal judge in Tallahassee sentenced him to life in July 1999 after he pleaded guilty to distributing a little over two ounces of crack cocaine, records show.

(2,178 posts)for his workstation in the Prison-Industrial Complex. You can't just pull a worker off the production line without someone to take his place. That would screw-up production and cut into profits.
