Athena may be feisty, but she is also made of that fine stuff that gives some of us such admirable courage. Her life was totally unfair, and it breaks my heart to see how bad her conditions were and how sick she was. But thanks to wonderful rescuers, that is all in the past. Watch her story and see how she became Brother Wolf Animal Rescues spokes-cat. What a great story!

(1,883 posts)1. my kitten had a respiratory infection when we adopted him...
or he adopted me actually. We put him in a bathroom with a humidifier for a week. I'd sleep on the bathroom floor (it was a hupe bathroom) That and the meds saved him. I remember all that green shit coming out of his tiny 3 month old nose and eyes. He still snores like a mofo but he has a pretty good life. What the fuck is wrong with people?

but it's so nice to see her with such clear eyes.
A lot of shelter cats have kennel cough and other upper respiratory issues. They can be treated and most respond very well.
I hope the puppy mill owner got prison time this time around.

NC House OKs bill to curb puppy mills
April 22, 2015
The N.C. House voted 85-29 Wednesday for new regulations on commercial dog breeders aimed at cracking down on puppy mills.
The bills sponsor, Republican Rep. Jason Saine of Lincolnton, has replaced his original bill with language from a puppy mill bill that passed the House two years ago but stalled in the Senate.
...
And the N.C. Sporting Dogs Association and the N.C. Federation of Dog Clubs are opposing the measure. They argue that the state should better enforce existing animal welfare laws.
....
Saine says hes hopeful the bill will fare better in the Senate this year. We have some movement and some interest over there in addressing this issue, he said.
But Rep. Jimmy Dixon, a Warsaw Republican, said hes skeptical of that. We all know whats going to happen to it when it goes across the hall, he said. Its dead on arrival, to which I say amen.
